BMI - WHERE DO YOU STAND?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is used as a screening tool to indicate whether a
person is underweight, overweight, obese or a healthy weight for their
height.
If your BMI is out of the healthy BMI range, your health risks may increase
significantly. Extra weight makes you more likely to have high blood pressure,
diabetes and high cholesterol. These conditions make heart disease or stroke
more likely.
How to calculate your BMI
To calculate your BMI you need to know your weight in kilograms (kg) and
you height in meters (m).
There are many BMI calculators available on the internet and on mobile
apps that can help you calculate your BMI but if you don’t have either of
these available here is a simple formula:
BMI =
weight in kgs
(height in meters)2
