SPECIAL ELECTION PROCEDURE
1. The Special Election will be Friday February 3rd, 2017 from noon to 9:00 p.m. at
the Village of Clayton Municipal Building.
2. The election will have paper ballots, a sample will be posted on the Village website
after the January 9, 2017 Regular Board Meeting
3. Absentee ballots:
a. The Absentee Ballot Application will be available online on the Village
website, and at the Village office, and by written request via mail, email or
fax. No phone requests will be accepted.
b. The instructions of the Absentee Ballots are clearly articulated on the
Application and are as follows:
i. The application must be either personally delivered to the Village of
Clayton not later than the 7th calendar day (1/27/2017) before
Election Day, or postmarked by a governmental postal service not
later than the 7th calendar day (1/27/2017) before Election Day.
c. The Absentee Ballot itself must be either personally delivered to the
Village of Clayton no later than the close of polls on Election Day (2/3/17),
or postmarked by a governmental postal service not later than the day
before Election Day (2/2/17), and received no later than the 7th calendar
day (2/10/17) after the election.
4. The election will have three appointed election inspectors, and one alternate in
case of illness/emergency
5. There shall be no electioneering within 100 feet of the polling place
6. The Ballots will be counted by the election inspectors after close of polls at 9:00
p.m. They will provide the Clerk with the preliminary count, which will be
announced by the day after the election (2/4/17) via posting to the Village
website, bulletin board, and sent to the TI Sun. The inspectors will return seven
(7) calendar days (2/10/17) after the election, and after the mail has been picked
up, to count the absentee ballots. The inspectors will provide the Clerk with that
total. The final vote total will be announced via posting to the Village website,
bulletin board shortly thereafter, and sent to the TI Sun.
