The Total Water Solutions Company
Introduction
With the ever increasing popularity of energy efficient
direct-on mains appliances, multi bathroom properties
and desirable high volume showers, the need for good
water performance in the home is essential.
Unfortunately, for many households the reality is
somewhat different...
The majority of UK water authorities typically
specify water supply to a property should not fall
below 1.0 bar pressure, but this commitment to a
supply is normally delivered at pavement level and
doesn’t take into account where the output is most
required, in a first floor bathroom for example. It is no
wonder therefore, that more and more householders
are unhappy with the poor water pressure and flow
they receive, particularly when multiple outlets are in
use.
MainsBoost™ Water Performance System
A cost effective, energy efficient and increasingly
popular solution to this growing problem, for both
residential and commercial properties, is the TWS –
Total Water Solutions Company - range of patented
MainsBoost™Water Performance Systems, which
delivers exactly the water performance customers
expect when taking a shower or running a bath.

TechnicalData
The increase in water performance is achieved by the MainsBoost™ water performance system’s patented
accumulator technology, using “green energy” to capture a volume of wholesome water “locked and
loaded” at pressure in a sealed hygienic container, ready for use. When a tap is opened or shower is turned
on, water is released under pressure to every outlet in the property.
The MainsBoost™ is installed directly onto the incoming supply and under mains pressure fills with water.
The CAD2 water chamber is surrounded by a positive pre–charged air pressure sealed within the vessel.
When the chamber is full the unit reaches a state of pressure equilibrium, i.e. the water pressure and
pre-charge pressure are balanced. The MainsBoost™ system now has a volume of water “locked and
loaded” at pressure, ready for distribution throughout the property. As an outlet is opened, the water is forced
out of the unit, boosting the incoming mains water supply.
For ease of installation all MainsBoost™ water performance systems are supplied with a comprehensive
installation pack, including a detailed installation manual. MainsBoost™ systems require no power supply
or drainage, are silent in operation and are maintenance** free for a minimum period of 5 years. The perfect
‘GREEN ENERGY’ water boosting solution.
MainsBoost™ water performance systems are available in a wide range of sizes to suit every application
and are ideal for properties with poor flow rates, including old or shared mains, multi bathrooms or high
demand outlets; however care should be taken to ensure the correctly sized MainsBoost™ system is
installed. TWS strongly recommend that a water pressure and flow test is carried out prior to the
specification of any MainsBoost™ system. TWS provide technical help and assistance with the specification
process.
Minimum incoming static water pressure required: 2.0 Bar. Where pressure is less than 2.0 Bar the
MainsBoost-plus ™ or MainsBoost Charger™ should be used.

TechnicalData
It has long been regarded that pumping the incoming main water supply was simply not an option as water
regulations demand that only a limited flow rate may be pumped from the mains, and this is insufficient to
meet the normal water demands of most properties, however all that has changed...
The MainsBoost Charger™ MJ1 pump is water regulations compliant, delivering no more than
12 litres per minute, and works in conjunction with the incoming mains supply to fill a MainsBoost ™ water
performance system (sized to meet the demands of the property.) The MJ1 pump only delivers 12 litres per
minute, with any remaining flow passing through a ‘GREEN ENERGY’ bypass, filling the MainsBoost™
vessel(s) up to the pre-determined pressure (maximum 3.5 Bar). This unique design ensures that not every
litre of water is pumped. By electronically sensing the incoming water pressure, the pump only operates when
mains pressure is low; saving energy and reducing running costs by up to 40%. The unit is supplied with a
comprehensive, bespoke installation kit including; flexible hoses, isolation valves, pressure limiting valve and
pressure safety relief valve.
MainsBoost™ water performance systems are available in a wide range of sizes to suit every application.
N.B. Care should be taken to ensure the correctly sized MainsBoost™ system is installed. TWS strongly
recommend that a water pressure and flow test is carried out prior to the specification of any MainsBoost™

When the incoming mains flow rate is more than 12 litres per minute, the additional flow passes through a
‘GREEN ENERGY’ bypass directly into the vessel. This unique design ensures that not every litre of water
is pumped. By electronically sensing the incoming water pressure, the pump only operates when mains
pressure is low; saving energy and reducing running costs by up to 40%.
The MainsBoost-plus™ system is designed for properties which have particularly poor incoming mains
pressure and flow, such as those on old or shared mains supplies, or those which have taps and showers
needing higher water pressures and flow rates to operate efficiently. The MainsBoost-plus™ is ideally
suited for multi storey apartment blocks, allowing each apartment to enjoy their own independent, boosted
water supply.
MainsBoost-plus™ systems are available in a wide range of sizes to suit most applications; however care
should be taken to ensure the correct sized MainsBoost-plus™ unit is installed.
TWS strongly recommend that a water pressure and flow test is carried out prior to the specification of
any MainsBoost-plus™ system. TWS provide technical help and assistance with this sizing process.
MainsBoost-plus™ systems require a minimum incoming water pressure of 0.5 Bar.

tel: 0333 121 3050
TechnicalData
The MainsBoost™ commercial water performance system is designed to provide boosted water supply
services for larger multi outlet properties. The MainsBoost™ commercial utilises patented accumulator
technology to increase flow rates and stabilise pressures for direct mains equipment such as unvented
cylinders and direct gas fired water heaters etc.
The MainsBoost™ system is installed directly onto the incoming supply and under mains pressure fills with
water. The water chamber is surrounded by a positive pre-charged air pressure sealed within the vessel.
When the chamber is full the vessel reaches a state of pressure equilibrium, i.e. the water pressure and
pre-charge pressure are balanced.
The MainsBoost™ system now has a volume of water “locked and loaded” at pressure, ready for distribution
throughout the property. As an outlet is opened, the water is forced out of the MainsBoost™ unit, boosting
the incoming mains water supply.
MainsBoost™ commercial systems are ideal for property managers looking to boost water services
throughout the property but with consideration to energy consumption and maintenance regimes.
For ease of installation all MainsBoost™ water
performance systems are supplied with a
comprehensive installation pack, including a
detailed installation manual. MainsBoost™
commercial water performance systems require no
power supply or drainage, are silent in
operation and require only minimal maintenance.
The perfect ‘GREEN ENERGY’ water boosting
solution, able to contribute towards carbon
reduction.
MainsBoost™ commercial systems are available
in a range of sizes from 330-1650 litre capacity and
may be linked together in a modular format to
provide increased water storage to meet all large
volume water demands.
N.B. Care should be taken to ensure the correctly
sized MainsBoost™ system is installed. TWS
strongly recommend that a water pressure and
flow test is carried out prior to the specification
of any MainsBoost™ commercial system. TWS
provide technical help and advice with this sizing
process.

The iBoost-200 is an integrated high performance pump and a WRAS compliant 200 litre break tank unit
for remedying poor water pressure and flow in direct on mains applications.
Operation
The iBoost-200 will supply water at up to 4.5 Bar to all outlets within the property. As demand is generated
the pump control vessel empties and pressure drops below 3.0 Bar; the pressure switch opens and the pump
starts to meet the demand. When demand ceases the pump will continue to run to re-pressurise the vessel
until the set point pressure of 4.5 Bar is achieved, which automatically triggers the flow switch, switching off
the pump.

38
tel: 0333 121 3050
TechnicalData
The AquaStor-eco unvented hot water cylinder is available in six size variants designed to meet the needs
of most household applications. It is suitable for all types of properties, from a single/twin occupancy
household up to those with at least six occupants (see table below).
The table shows suggested suitable volumes based on our experience of average hot water usage in a
normal household. If there is a high hot water demand due to large bath tubs, high volume showers or
multiple bathrooms etc, it is advisable to install a larger cylinder than those suggested for the average
household occupancy.
Hot water capacity is calculated at 40°C showering temperature. At 40°C, a 6 minute shower (dependent on
shower head) uses 80 - 100 litres of tempered water. Extended showering times, high flow rate shower heads
or large baths can use substantially more.
For properties requiring larger volumes of hot water, the AquaStor Sigma F1 range of cylinders should be
considered. TWS provide technical advice and support to help you chose the right sized AquaStor cylinder
for the application.
For properties with low water pressure and poor flow rates it is recommended that a MainsBoost™ water
performance system is installed in conjunction with the AquaStor unvented hot water cylinder to improve
water performance throughout the home delivering ‘power shower’ performance and baths filled in under
5 minutes!

TechnicalData
The AquaStor Amega uses Tank-in-Tank technology to deliver improved hot water performance. This
simple, tried and tested technology has proven to be remarkably efficient and reliable.
The AquaStor Amega consists of two tanks. The inner tank is made of stainless steel which is completely
immersed within a steel outer shell, which is heated by the primary water of the heating circuit. As cold water
enters the inner tank it is quickly heated due to the large heat exchange surface (Tank-in-Tank) of the inner
tank which is surrounded by (primary) hot water.
The AquaStor Amega heats a large quantity of hot water in a very short time (up to 2.5 times faster than
a traditional coil) this reduction allows the required volume of water to be stored and limits energy losses.
Installed with the correct boiler heat input and controls, the AquaStor Amega has the capability to deliver
up to 2100 litres of hot water per hour continuously at 45°C*.
Stored hot water is maintained at a constant 60°C which prevents the formation of bacteria within the
cylinder.
The Tank-in-Tank system also eliminates the need for anode protection which can be a potential source of
bacterial development.
Multiple connection ports allow flexibility of installation, ensuring the cylinder can be adopted to the latest
system developments.
All AquaStor Amega cylinders are supplied with a correctly sized 3.5 Bar G3 unvented system
installation kit.

Eceautron™
Catalytic Water Conditioner
Limescale is present in all water supplies and in some areas
the levels of calcium carbonate present can create such high
levels of “hardness” that the efficiency and life span of many
appliances is severely affected, particularly when the water is
heated. The build up of limescale within appliances leads to
increased energy consumption (just 1mm can cause an 11%
increase in energy consumption), loss of efficiency and the
premature failure of boilers, hot water cylinders and kettles
etc. Traditionally this issue has been addressed by the use of
salt based water “softeners”, which although effective, require
high maintenance and render the water unsuitable for drinking.
•

•

•
Compact dimensions - easy to install
An alternative method of treating water has been used in
commercial and industrial systems for many years and now
this tried and tested technology is now available to everyone.
The Eceautron™ water conditioner uses an electrolytic action
to treat the water and contains a unique alloy core that acts
as a catalyst, causing the calcium carbonate to precipitate into
microscopic crystals. These crystals then float in suspension
in the water without adhering to any surfaces, ensuring that
boilers, cylinders and kettles etc do not scale up and remain
efficient whilst continuing to operate for many years.
•
WRAS approved
•
Drinkable water
•
No power source required
•
Whole house water treatment
Available in a range of sizes to meet the requirements of most
residential and commercial properties, the Eceautron™ has
an average 15 year active life span and comes with a 10 year
warranty against manufacturing defects.
52
tel: 0333 121 3050
• Available in 15mm, 22mm, 28mm,
35mm and 42mm sizes
TechnicalData
How does it work?
The Eceautron™ has a unique galvanic alloy, catalytic anode within a stainless steel housing. Using the
Archimedes principle to create turbulence, water passes over the anode. This turbulence, coupled with the
anode’s unique surface properties causes the precipitation of calcium bicarbonate into microscopic calcium
carbonate crystals which remain suspended in the water. The treated water is now more ‘soft’ like in its
characteristics and therefore will not have a tendency to form hard scale. However, the water will retain its
mineral content, many of which are beneficial.
Existing limescale
In most cases conditioned water will begin to dissolve existing limescale present in the system as a result of
its increased ability to act as a solvent as there is no longer calcium dissolved in the water. Some systems
experience the descaling effect within a matter of weeks, for others it can take several months and this is
subject to the level of scale present, the water quality and the volume of treated water passed through the
system each day.
Effects on corrosion
Eceautron™ is totally non chemical, and the treated water will not induce corrosion. However, corrosion
may be caused when oxygen is trapped within the pipe, cylinder or boiler, causing scale deposition to
slowly eat away at the metal surface. The Eceautron™ prevents scale from forming in the first place thereby
avoiding this type of corrosion.
Effects on Bacteria and algae growth
The elimination of bacteria and algae growth solely through the treatment of calcium carbonate is not
possible, however, effective conditioning of water will minimise the risk of bacteria or algae build up as it
often relates to the level of scaling in the system. The prevention or restriction of scale formation limits the
potential for algae and bacteria growth.
The importance of sizing
Flow rate is critical to the selection of the correct Eceautron™ model. Select the model which most closely
matches the average flow rate where the conditioner is to be installed. The flow rate through the conditioner
is crucial to ensure effective water treatment. If flow is too low; insufficient turbulence is generated, if flow is
too high it becomes laminar and the water does not interact with the catalyst in the desired manner. Do not
adopt the ‘bigger is better ‘ approach as in most cases the opposite is true.
It is quite common to select an Eceautron™ unit which is one or more sizes smaller than the pipeline into
which it is installed (consideration given to unacceptable pressure losses).
The environment
The Eceautron™ is one of the most environmentally friendly water treatment products available. The
catalytic water treatment process does not use any energy, does not produce waste and does not require the
use of any consumables. Once installed this long life product prevents scale deposition without the need for
maintenance or inspection.

EceauSmart™ Aerated Shower Heads
The Perfect Shower - Less water but great performance
Water is a key issue which affects everyone in the UK. How we
manage our water resource now and in the future will impact
greatly on the country. We are all aware that the UK
population is growing annually, and yet the last time a
reservoir was constructed was 1974 and there are currently no
plans to construct any new ones.
We only need one dry summer for water restrictions to be put
in place so it really is up to every household to control the
amount of water that they use.
With people preferring to shower daily and the growing
popularity of drench head showers, one way of successfully
reducing water use in both commercial and residential
properties is to replace every showerhead with an
EceauSmart™ aerated shower head which can reduce the
amount of water used by each shower by 40% but by using
modern aeration technology will still deliver an invigorating,
full flow shower experience.

TechnicalData
The EceauSmart™ is an eco-friendly shower head, yet by
using modern aeration technology these eco-friendly shower
heads still give the effect of a full flow shower.
This eco friendly technology reduces the amount of water
used and also the energy consumed, since 60% of the water
used when you shower is hot water, which requires energy
to heat it.
Modern high performance shower heads provide flow rates
from 14 to more than 30 litres per minute and the average
person takes at least 6 minutes to shower, so water
consumption can reach more than 180 litres per person.
The EceauSmart™ range of water saving shower heads
incorporate the latest aerating technology developed by one
of Europe’s leading shower manufacturers, to deliver a full
flow shower whilst reducing water consumption to an
environmentally friendly 9 litres per minute. This equates to
just 54 litres of water per shower!
Over a 1 year period an average family of 4 can save over
64,000 litres of water. (38,000 litres of hot water!)
A significant socio economic benefit.
The use of water saving technologies in commercial
applications can be included within an overall energy
saving package and when used in applications such as hotels and leisure facilities the savings are even
greater, impacting on profitability and reducing the carbon footprint of the business.
EceauSmart™ are available in hand set and fixed mounting versions and with either fixed or variable
spray patterns. These exceptionally high quality shower heads are supplied in a deep lustre chrome finish.
Minimum 1.0 Bar dynamic water pressure required for full aeration.
If in doubt, a MainsBoost™/Aquaboost product will ensure this pressure requirement is met.
