Harvey, 3181 Meander Valley Highway, Westbury 7303 Phone No. 6393 1228 General Show regulations Judging will take place at the Westbury Showground on Friday November 4th 2016 Closing Date: October 21nd 2016 for all sections except FLORAL – Entries for Floral and Floral Art will be accepted on judging day Please note entry fee Classes 1 – 126 and classes 182 - 206 50c per entry Classes 127 - 181 30c per entry Bulk rate for schools submitting over 100 entries @15c per entry. Postage stamps not accepted as payment. A stamped, self addressed envelope MUST be included for return of tickets. Conditions: PLEASE READ GUIDELINES FOR EACH SECTION All entries must be pre-paid. Entries, together with payment of the entry fees, may be forwarded to the Secretary or placed in the box at IGA, Westbury. Please ensure that both sides of entry form are filled in. Please take time to read entry form. If in doubt please call Secretary on 6393 1228. E-mail entries will not be accepted. If possible use separate entry forms for each exhibitor or list them together. Please make cheque payable to: Westbury Agricultural Society, Ladies Committee Please ensure that return envelope is big enough for return of entry form plus exhibit tickets and plastic bags for cooking entries if required. All items for competition must be delivered to the place of exhibition from 8.30am and no later than 10.30am on Friday 4th November 2016. All items received after that time will be for exhibition only. In all sections, special exhibit numbers will be issued which must be fixed to each item before they arrive at the showgrounds. Exhibit Nos. for cooking must be attached to plate NOT plastic bag. Cooking entries must be in their plastic bags prior to being presented at the showgrounds. No item will be accepted for exhibition if it has on it any distinguishing marks which may be recognisable to judges. No item shall be entered in more than one class. All items must be the bona fide works of the exhibitor and no more than three years old. Due to limited space for exhibition larger items may not be displayed to their best advantage. Exhibitors may enter multiple items in any class provided entry fees are paid for each item. No item having previously won a first prize in the Westbury Show will be accepted for exhibition. Stewards shall receive and place all items for exhibition in the Homecraft Section which will be under the control of the Stewards. The Committee will appoint competent persons to act as Judges and the decision of the Judges will be final. In the event of there only being one entry in a particular class, first prize will be awarded only at the Judge's discretion. Prizes may be in the form of Gift Vouchers or cash etc. or as decided by the Committee. Most Successful Exhibitor Prizes. In the event of a tie, the winner will be selected on countback. No persons, with the exception of officials, will be allowed into the hall while judging is taking place. Third prize cards to be issued – no monetary value for adults The Committee will exercise all reasonable care but will not be responsible for the loss of, or damage to, any item while in their custody. The President, Chief Steward and Secretary have the power to deal with matters arising on either Judging Day or Show Day. In order to facilitate the return of items, competitors are requested to supply a full list of their items on collection. Items may be collected no earlier than 4.00pm and no later than 5.30pm on Saturday 5th November 2016. Prize money may only be collected from the Secretary on collection of exhibits on Show Day. If unable to collect exhibit personally please make provision with the Secretary for collection. Guidelines Cooking: All cooking must be at least one day old. No packet cakes. All cooking to be presented on WHITE plastic (NOT PAPER) disposable plate in a clear plastic bag - Cling Wrap and freezer bags not allowed. Plastic bags can be purchased from Secretary prior to show – with your entries for a small fee. All cakes will be cut by the judge. Check the schedule for further guidelines specific to each class eg. correct cake tin, no. of items required on plate etc. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE PRESENTED ON DAY OF JUDGING READY TO BE DISPLAYED NO PREPARATION FOR DISPLAY ALLOWED IN HALL Preserves: Cellophane covers on jams. Sauce bottles may have screw tops. Ensure jars are clean and free of advertising labels. Jars should have plain labels (no borders or decoration of any kind) Eggs to be displayed in egg cartons or small basket Heritage Section All entries should reflect the Heritage theme of this section where possible eg. Only straight machining, non synthetic materials, no overlocking etc. A Pomander Ball is a citrus fruit covered in spices – eg. Orange pressed with whole cloves, Knitting and Crochet Work to be clean and well presented Articles should be new and not worn Correct and even tension Patterns should match at all seams Knitting must be finished without knots and wool joined at seams with no ends Flat seams must be used on baby’s knitwear. Quilting: Details to be considered when judging - Even joins, general finish, neatness and cleanliness Please also note extra details attached to each class Beading: Items of jewellery to be mounted separately Needlework Work to be clean and well presented Details to be considered when judging – worn threads, missed stitches, uneven tension, visible design marks, visible carriage of threads, inconsistent direction of stitches in cross stitch items, cushions poorly filled. Method: Place all ingredients into bowl and beat with electric mixer for 2 ½ minutes. Put mixture into a well greased o o loaf tin and place in fan forced oven at 170 -180 for approx. ½ hour. Test cake in the middle with a skewer before taking out of oven. When cold, ice with Orange Icing. To encourage Primary School Students to enter ‘Their own Lego Creation’ Entries Close: Judging: Where: Date: Friday, 21 October, 2016 Entries to be at showgrounds no later than 10.30am on Friday 4th November 2016 All entries will be displayed at the Westbury Show Saturday, 5th November, 2016 Conditions of entry: Enter as per schedule Classes 157 and 158 using entry form at back of schedule Item must be made of Lego (or Lego-like) blocks. Item must be mounted on a base-plate – must not measure more than 13cmx13cm at the base (e.g. roughly the size of a small Lego base-plate). Item must be made by entrant. This is a creative competition – item should not be made from a kit-design. Entrants must be 12 years old or younger at time of entry.
