PAGE 2 CAN YOU IMAGINE • • • • • • • • Standing on the very ground where our nation began? Walking in the footsteps of the Patriots who founded our country? Sitting in the seats the Patriots sat in? Climbing the steps to visit our Capitol? Sitting in the seat of government of the most powerful nation on earth? Visiting memorials to Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln & the men and women who died defending our country? Visiting the Smithsonian Museums? Driving through Gettysburg battleground, where 51,000 men were casualties in those 3 hot July days – Americans all? • Seeing the “horse and buggy” people going about their daily lives and meeting some of them • Seeing the Liberty Bell and walking through Independence Hall where our Declaration of Independenc was written & signed? • Standing on the edge of Ground “0”, seeing the Statue of Liberty, attending a Broadway Play and walking in Times Square? We will be there !! FROM TIRZAH RILEY, Director This is a wonderful privilege and opportunity for students, teachers, parents and grandparents to share an incredible experience together! Students often say to me that they would rather their parents or grandparents not go – to which I reply – “I want your parents to go and about half-way through the trip, you will come and thank me – I guarantee you!” It has never failed in the 24 years I have been escorting the students and their parents. What an opportunity to share this time with your child or grandchild, and their friends and build never to be forgotten memories. God always shows us His power, His direction, His protection, and His love in awesome ways on the trip! I hope you will be with us this year to enjoy and watch God work as we follow Him on this exciting learning adventure. U.S. Historic Tours 2575 Treasure Drive Santa Barbara, CA 93105 (805) 448-2442 FAX (805) 563-8444 Purpose of the U.S. Historic Tour PAGE 3 “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not by religions, but by the gospel of Jesus Christ.” –Patrick Henry We believe that no American can experience what it really means to be a blood, sweat and tears American patriot until he or she has stood and walked in the historic footsteps of our founding fathers, and seen the sights which have made our country what it is today. Our country is going through a very difficult time. We are challenged to “run the race” as never before. It is a time when we are challenged to stand up for truth and declare our dependence on the Almighty God and His divine providence. A time when we are challenged to know where we came from and therefore, to better know where we are headed. “I know that this is in our reach because we are guided by a power larger than ourselves who created us in His image...” -President George W. Bush We are committed to teaching and training the next generation who will be world changers. As we look at history, we become more and more aware of God’s hand in shaping our history. There is no better way to rekindle our faith in His power through us than to learn of the heroes who laid the foundations of our nation and to walk in their actual footsteps. Our students will learn and see at this critical moment in our nation’s history, that “Everything is possible with God.” This trip is not just a school field trip, but rather it will be an experience of a lifetime. “Let us look forward to the time when we can take the flag of our country and nail it below the Cross, and there let it wave as it waved in the olden times, and let us gather around it and inscribe our motto: ‘Liberty and Union, one and inseparable, now and forever,’ and exclaim: Christ first, our country next.” -President Andrew Johnson PAGE 4 Reservation Form DUE ON OR BEFORE September 23, 2004 Please turn in Reservation Form with deposit to Mrs. Judy Logan Date Due Amount Due Deposit 9/23/04 $150.00 9/23/04 Payment #1 10/21/04 $550.00 10/21/04 Payment #2 11/29/04 $550.00 11/2904 Payment #3 1/5/05 $495.00 1/05/05 Total $1745.00 Please reserve a place on the U.S. Historic Tour for: 1_________________________________________________ 2_________________________________________________ 3_________________________________________________ 4_________________________________________________ Enclosed please find a non-refundable / non-transferable deposit for the U.S. Historic Tour $150.00 per person Please make all payment checks PAYABLE TO HILLCREST CHRISTIAN SCHOOL- WA.D.C.
