TO HELP SERVE YOU BETTER
THROUGH THE CALLING POST
Some of you have stated that you did not receive a call from the Calling
Post last year. After reviewing the call history, it appears that several
calls went to an answering machine, but a message was not left. Most of us will not answer a
call from a number we do not recognize. We suggest putting the Calling Post number in your
contact list so when a call comes through from the Calling Post, you’ll know it’s an important
message from Mrs. Garris. That number is 405-308-4474. It is the same number every
time. Please consider doing this to help avoid missing another important call from Mrs. Garris
through the Calling Post. Hopefully, we can cut down on the missed calls and you will be better
informed when we have to utilize the Calling Post. Thank you for your continued support of
Heritage Christian Academy.
WEATHER RELATED SCHOOL CLOSINGS
In case of inclement weather or other local emergencies, listen to WNKJ (89.3 FM), WHOP
(1230 AM or 98.7 FM) or Nashville stations for CBS, NBC & FOX17, if you do not receive a call
from the Calling Post. You can also check out our website (www.hcahopkinsville.org) or view
our Facebook page (Heritage Christian Academy). Since we do not provide bus service, HCA
will not necessarily follow public school weather related closings. It is our intent to hold classes even when there is inclement weather. Parents may use their discretion in determining if it
is unsafe to drive. Students will not be penalized for tardiness or absences on these days.

Thursday, January 19th: PJ Day – Wear pajamas! No leggings, sweatpants, athletic pants, jeans,
or gowns
Friday, January 20th: Mathlete vs. Athlete –Wear a team jersey (no team t-shirts or hoodies) or
dress like a nerd – suspenders, tape on glasses, etc. Jeans are allowed ONLY if you are dressing
the part.
Wednesday, January 25th: Wacky Wednesday – Wear your clothes inside out, backwards, or
mismatched; wear crazy hair or accessories. Jeans are allowed ONLY if you are dressing the
part.
Thursday, January 26th: Throwback Thursday – Dress like you’re from a past era in time. Jeans
are allowed ONLY if you are dressing the part.
Friday, January 27th: HCA Day: Wear your jeans and an HCA shirt.
All days – NO SWEATPANTS OR LEGGINGS
The homecoming pep rally and games are Friday, January 27th there will be a pep rally at 2pm
and homerooms with at least 90% participation in the spirit week themed dress days will
compete in a dance competition at the pep rally.
We are also having a banner competition for each homeroom.
Elementary homerooms are competing to win popsicles.
MS/HS homerooms are competing to win a dress down day.
The rules for the banner are as follows:
4ft X 5ft banner
No glitter or pushpins
The banner needs to be up in the gym by 8am Friday the 27th.
We are playing North Hardin. Their colors are yellow, green, and black, and their mascot is a falcon.

Candy Grams
The Seniors are selling candy grams for valentine’s day. These are brightly packaged bundles of
candy (Hershey’s kisses) that have a personalized message attached. You can purchase these for
$2.00 each. Various stuffed animals are also available with or without the candy attached.
Parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, and “secret admirers” are all encouraged to
participate. Turn in forms with money to Mrs. Burks or the front office.(make checks to “hca”)
Candy grams will go on sale Monday, January 9 through Friday, February 10. These will be
delivered in homeroom on Tuesday, february 14th. These funds go toward senior trip expenses.

to the animal. Candy may also be purchased without an animal.**
