SPORTS INFORMATION
Nazareth offers a comprehensive sports program with many opportunities for students of all abilities
and interests to participate.
Playing sport for your College is fun and is a great way to make friends and develop a deep sense of
belonging to the College Community.
SUMMER SPORT
(Term 1 and Term 4)
ATHLETICS (Boys and Girls)
Students of all year levels are able to
participate in carnivals during school time in
Term 1 and Term 4. Students are selected by
their PE teacher and Athletics coach based on
performances on sports day and class results.
Carnivals are advertised via the daily notices
and the sport newsletter.
BADMINTON (BOYS)
Badminton games are played Saturday
mornings for all year levels at home and away
venues.
BASKETBALL (GIRLS)
Games are played Saturday mornings for all
year levels at home and away venues.
CRICKET (Boys)
Games are played Saturday morning for all year
levels at home and away venues.
SWIMMING (Boys and Girls)
All year levels are able to compete at various
carnivals and events throughout the year.
VOLLEYBALL (Boys and Girls)
Volleyball is offered to all year levels at home
and away venues. Boy’s teams play Friday
nights, whilst Girl’s teams play Saturday
mornings.
All students involved in Volleyball also have the
opportunity to attend the Volleyball SA Beach
Volleyball Carnival in Term 4.
WATER POLO (Boys and Girls)
Girl’s Water Polo is played Thursday after
school and Boy’s Water Polo is played Friday
after school. Games are played at various
pools such as The Adelaide Aquatic Centre
(AAC), Pembroke, St Peter’s, PAC and
Payneham Pool.
Students of all year levels are able to participate.
TENNIS (Boys and Girls)
Games are played Saturday morning for all year
levels at home and away venues.
The Drive team plays at Memorial Drive.

(Term 2 and Term 3)

Nominations
Students are invited to nominate for their chosen sport
online by a specified date. Teams must have adequate
numbers before being entered into the competition.
Students are expected to commit to their team for the
entire season.
CROSS COUNTRY (Boys and Girls)
Students from all year levels are able
to compete in the Naz team at the
State Championship carnival at
Oakbank in June and individually at
other events through the year.
FOOTBALL (Boys)
Games are played Saturday mornings
for Juniors (8’s and 9’s) and
Wednesday afternoon for Seniors
(10’s, 11’s and 12’s). All competitions
are played at home and away venues.
NETBALL (Girls)
Games are played Saturday mornings
for all year levels at the same school /
location each week.
SOCCER (Boys and Girls)
Games are played Saturday mornings
for all year levels at home and away
venues.
TABLETENNIS (Boys)
Games are played Friday afternoon for
all year levels at home and away
venues.

For various reasons, times and venues do change from
week to week, so all students, coaches and parents are
strongly encouraged to check the website weekly.

Sport Cancellations
Where possible, students are notified of match
cancellations on Friday afternoon. Students should also
check the website for up to date changes. If students
have not been notified by the sports coordinators, then
they are expected to travel to their venue.
Sport News
Sport information is distributed via the sport office via
the website (above), weekly sport newsletter, daily
notices, email and text messages.
Training
Training is held weekly throughout both summer and
winter sport seasons.
Awards
Awards are presented to all sport teams at the Sports
Presentation Evening in Term 4.
