Liebe Kollegen und Freunde der Goldenen Schlüssel,
Cari colleghi ed amici delle chiavi d‘Oro,
We are taking this opportunity with this first newsletter
in 2014 for the Swiss Executive Committee and myself
to wish you all, your beloved ones and your families a
healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
2013 was a year which saw many changes:
The election of the new Executive Swiss Committee in
St Moritz, where a wonderful and memorable Congress
was held thanks to the hard work Claudio. Last
October, was held our western zone meeting in Dublin,
where we shared our thoughts and questions in order to
prepare the Kuala Lumpur congress. This 61st International
Congress was an incredible and wonderful congress. The spotless organization, the
warm welcome made it truly memorable. It is always a great moment to meet and share
with everyone. You will soon be able to read the minutes on our website. Our website is
constantly being updated by Timo and Darius, so please don’t hesitate to check it
regularly. Our next meeting will be In Vienna for the 2nd European congress for the 10th
to the 13th of July 2014 where we will have our western zone meeting as well. In
September, we will be having our Journée des Clefs d’Or in Crans-Montana on sunday
the 14th of September. The Executive Committee and I are very proud to be your
representatives and we greatly appreciate your support and your participation.
Your ideas or suggestions are always welcome and you can reach us

and we are looking forward to hearing you or to meeting you all very
soon.

From the 21st until the 23rd of June 2013 the
28th national congress took place at the
beautifull Giardino Mountain Hotel in Champfer/
St. Moritz. More than 50 LCD Concierges
followed the ininvitation of the organizer and
host Claudio Caser.

At the general assembly the new board has been
nominated and and 23 new members have been
announced.
Barbara Bänninger from the International New York
Times reported about the new name of the
newspaper and changes in context with it. Mr.
Robert Deon presented interisting news and
details about the new DHL Express concept. We
as well had the pleasure to have Mrs. C‘ècile from
Bucherer with us.

Andy Pongco Award
The new elected executive board of „Les Clefs d‘Or Suisses“

For the upcoming congresses the Executive board would like to start with nominating
a canditate for the prestigious „Andy Pongco Award“. We invite
candidates who meet the requirements to consider their
application.
The Andy Pongco Award was established at the 55th
International Congress in Denmark, 2008 to honour the
memory of Andy Pongco (an international honorary president)
by recognising and encouraging young members to become
active participants in our global network. The prize for the
recipient of the award is an invitation to the next International
Congress.
Each year the award is sponsored by a different partner. It is

intend to see this friendly challenge continue for many years to
come and therefore, enable us to detect the elite of tomorrow’s
Clefs d'Or Concierges. In order for all countries to participate on an equal basis,
please note the requirements:
The candidate must be:

A "Clefs d'Or" member
•
Under 35 years of age
•
Participating at his/her very first international congress
•
Nominated by his/her member section
•
Fluent in English
•
Must have the title "Concierge" and a hotel issued business card
(Application must include a scanned copy of the candidate's business card.
Candidates will also be required to present business card at the personal interview).
The candidates will complete an open book written exam on the history of Les Clefs
d'Or, geography and general hotel knowledge to assess the skills they use everyday at
their Concierge desks. They will write a few essays on their interest in the profession
as well as their aspirations, and finally at the congress,
they will have an interview with members of the Andy
Pongco Committee in which personal presentation will be
a vital component in the final outcome of this friendly
contest.

presented a very interesting and
useful PowerPoint presentation in
Kuala Lumpur showing the history of
our association and serving to be a
tool and a guideline to introduce Les Clefs d’Or. You can download it from our website.
Our as well very efficient 3rd International Vice President Roderick Levejac made a
presentation for the project of the Book of Members on line. He has been working very hard on
this project and explained that this new Book of Members will not only allow the association to
save a lot of money but also to have the it updated on a regular basis. For this reason, we
kindly ask all members to inform the secretary of their section as well as Darius and Timo of
their updated details. The members will have access to the book online only if they provide
their unique email address (ie : [email protected] is not possible, but
[email protected] is good). It will be used for the login for each member.
Our international treasurer Jean-Roland Boutillé presented the treasury report as well as the
budget for 2014. You can see both on our website in the section reserved to the members.
Please kindly pass on you comments or questiones to our secretary Darius or his assistant
Laurent before the 20th of February in order to prepare for the next meeting.
