Queen Elizabeth’s 90th
Birthday Celebrations
th
Tomorrow, to celebrate the Queen’s 90 Birthday
we will be having a party lunch. We would like
children to bring their own picnic lunch as we will
be having a party lunch outside.
FOSS have kindly bought for each child at the
school a commemorative medal for children to
keep. Children will bring these home at the end
of the day. Thank you FOSS!
On Saturday from 3pm there is a street party style
event on the school playground with family sports
on the school field. Come and join the whole
community for family games (welly wanging, tug of
war, egg and spoon races etc.) and a party lunch.
We’ll conclude at 5pm by raising the union flag and
singing the National Anthem round the flagpole.
Everyone is most welcome – the more the merrier!
The evening event originally planned for the
th
evening has now been postponed until 18
We’re really looking forward to putting on a whole
school biblical production this year. It will (weather
permitting) be performed outside as we normally
would for Sausage and Song.
On Monday, we are having auditions for some of
the key roles and will soon be sending out letters
about how you might be able to help with
costumes.
In a change from recent years we will also have a
musical afternoon on 7th July from 2.45pm when
recorder players, flute, piano and guitarists will
provide some musical entertainment to the rest of
the school and any parents who wish to join us.
More details about both of these events will follow.
Sun Hats, Sun Cream and
Sun Glasses
Because children spend playtimes, lunchtimes and
some other lesson time outside, it is important that
we are careful, especially when it is very hot.
We recommend that on sunny days, sun cream is
applied AT HOME before coming to school with a
view to it lasting throughout the day. If you feel it is

necessary additional cream to be applied later in
the day, we expect children to be able to apply this
themselves. Apart from siblings we cannot allow
suncream to be shared between children in case
of allergies. Any suncream brought to school
should be clearly labelled with the child’s name
and handed to a member of staff.
We recommend that children have sun hats to
wear at playtimes. You can purchase school
sunhats from Uniform Direct that give protection to
the back of the neck too.
If you feel it is necessary for your child to have sun
glasses, it is vital that they have the correct UV
protection to avoid harming children’s eyes. It is
the child’s responsibility to look after their
sunglasses all day. Although we will help children
to take care of these items, they can be easily
broken if not looked after well.
Family Camping
The long awaited date for family camping has now
th
been finalised – Friday 24 June. Always a great
night when families come together for a barbecue,
a few games, adventures and fun. An early start
the following morning usually means everyone is
packed up and away soon after 10am. More
details to follow.
Centurion Band on Tour
Five of our musicians are part of a partnership
band that will be performing at each Partnership
th
School on 20 June. This is a tour in a day with
their own tour bus. We are looking forward to their
visit to Scampton just before lunchtime.
Music Lessons
If your child has additional music lessons at
school. To make progess it is very important that
they find time between lessons to practice their
instrument. A number of children are leaving their
instrument at school between lessons
Please be aware and allow time for increased
traffic in the area at pick up time. Parents of
children booked into Scamps should especially
be mindful of increased traffic to avoid late
collection as staff are also likely to have a
longer journey home after the last pick up.
We’ll let you know next week about restrictions in
place for the Lincolnshire Show taking place on
nd
rd
22 and 23 June.
Scamps News
Next week at Scamps, our activities will include
making Fathers’ Day gifts.
When collecting or dropping off children, we want
your children and you to feel welcomed however
please be mindful that lengthy discussions with
staff can prevent them interacting and supervising
the children.
We have worked together with club users to
develop a Scamps Charter. Over the next week,
we will be sharing this with children and parents.
We hope that by signing this together, we will be
united in our expectations of each other. Please
take time to look at the charter and our other
policies that can be found at
www.scampton.lincs.sch.uk/scamps
Dogs
In recent weeks there has been an increase in the
number of dogs coming onto the front playground
at the end of the day. We are mindful that young
children like to come and ‘pet’ dogs and are
equally mindful that in busy situations when dogs
come together or are overcrowded there is the
potential that even the friendliest dogs may react
aggressively. We respect that some children and
adults can feel wary around dogs too. Please
therefore do not bring dogs (except assistance
dogs) onto the school site.
