Abstract Nouns Assignment DUE FRIDAY, SEPT.5th
Abstract nouns name feelings, ideas, and characteristics, or qualities. They are
concepts that cannot be seen or touched; they have no physical existence. Words
like tranquility, stubbornness, health, and curiosity belong in this category. Abstract
nouns are usually singular, uncountable nouns, but there are some exceptions—like
idea/ideas, noise/noises, freedom/freedoms, and power/powers. Can you think of
others?

Assignment: (CHOOSE ONE)
1) Word Collage
 Make a word collage of abstract nouns
◦ You can do it online at: http://www.wordle.net/ or with Tagxedo
 You must use 20 abstract nouns
 Make your collage (or word cloud) colorful and creative
OR
2) Picture Collage
Choose one or 2-3 abstract noun(s) to create a picture collage of. Design your
collage on blank paper (no larger than 12”X 9”). You can use digital images,
hand-drawn images, and/or ones out of magazines.
