Welcome message
We hope you all enjoyed our come learn with me session this morning and found it enjoyable o learn alongside your child.
Summer Fair 16th July
Thank you to all of those families who attended our coffee morning on Tuesday to start
brainstorming ideas for our summer fair. This year’s event is on Saturday 16th July on the
school site between 12-3pm. If you are interested in being on the Summer Fair committee
to lead an area e.g food, entertainment, music, stalls, then please do come along to our
summer fair committee on 12th May at 4pm. Please see Miss Munday if you have any contacts, ideas or would like to be involved.
Feedback
Thank you to all of those parent/carers who have already completed a pink feedback form.
If you have not yet done so please complete and return it as soon as possible. We really
value your feedback.
Fundraising
Goresbrook school is currently up on ASDA’s Chosen By You, Given By Us scheme, this
means three charities are up on the board in the Dagenham store and customers vote via
their green token scheme. At the end of the voting period the three good causes receive a
cheque ranging from £50-£200 so please spread the word and get voting! The green tokens can be obtained from the checkouts but you need to ask the cashier for them.
Reception trip to Thorndon Woods
Reception parents received a letter today regarding our trip to Thorndon Woods on
Wednesday 18th May. Please refer to this letter for further information and return your
consent form and payment promptly to the reception. If you would like to volunteer please
put your name down at reception—please only sign up if you can definitely come as we
will reserve a space for you on the coach. Coach spaces for volunteers are on a first come
first serve basis.
Extended club provision
We also sent out a letter regarding clubs from September. Please do complete this if extended club provision is something you are interested in.
Parking
A request to parents dropping off their children in the morning—please do not park on the
temporary car park on the side of the school—this is for builders and is dangerous—please
park in goals as normal to ensure the safety of all of our children.
Edition 2.25
Attendance & Punctuality
On return to school please bring in a handwritten note or complete the absence form at
the front reception. This is valid for genuine
illness of two days. More than two days absence requires medical proof e.g. a prescription
bottle or a copy of a prescription or even the
appointment card are acceptable.
If your child is up and about at home then they
are generally well enough to be at school. If
your child is too ill to attend school please ensure you phone 0203 597 6666 as soon as possible that morning and every day that they are
absent.
A reminder for collection in the afternoons: If
you collect your child more than 10 minutes
late on three occasions in a half term, we are
required to charge you £10.00. As per our policy, any further instances of lateness in that half
term will incur a charge of £10.00 per occasion.

Word of the week
from Miss Rix
Many thanks to the children who gave
their sentences to me last week. These
are my two favourites.
Michelle in year 1 wrote: "I like fish
fingers because they are delectable".
Arianna in reception wrote: "My mum's
dinner is delectable". I was also very proud of the children showing great spark and
using this new word to describe their lunches at school.
This week's word of the week is TERRIFYING. Can you write a sentence using the word
terrifying? Bring your sentences to Miss Rix on Monday. Will your sentence feature in
the newsletter next week?
Sainsbury’s active kids
We
are
collecting the
Sainsbury’s
active
kids
coupons. Please
ask family and
friends to collect these and pass to Miss
Bone at the front reception. The more
coupons we accumulate, the more
resources we can buy for the school.

Nursery book bags
Nursery book bags only need to be
brought in on a Thursday for book
changing from now on. Please bring
your Nursery water bottle as normal
every day.
