hard red winter wheat developed
by WestBred. It is a semidwarf with a medium coleoptile length around 3.25”. s medium maturity variety. It is
a medium tall plant. The test weight is good. Winterhawk is susceptible to Hessian fly, Greenbug, and Russian
wheat aphid. It is moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and resistant to wheat soil borne mosaic virus and
wheat spindle streak mosaic virus. Winterhawk is moderately susceptible to stem rust but is resistant to leaf rust
and stripe rust. It is moderately resistant to wheat streak mosaic. Winterhawk has good straw strength and very
good test weight. The milling and baking quality of Winterhawk is also acceptable. It has performed well in
western Nebraska.
HUSKER GENETICS SETTLER CL BRAND is ranked third on the sell charts for 2016. is a moderately late
maturing, semi-dwarf hard red winter wheat. The mature plant height of Settler CL is very moderate. Settler CL
has moderate straw strength. The winter hardiness is good to very good. Settler CL is moderately resistant to
stem rust and wheat soilborne mosaic virus. It is moderately susceptible to leaf rust, stripe rust, and Hessian fly.
Settler CL also is slightly less susceptible to Fusarium head blight than many widely grown varieties. It is also
susceptible to wheat streak mosaic virus.
