They must also have a Colorado driver's license. An applicant must also be able to pass a hearing test. Must have the ability to travel in the field across rough and uneven terrain. Must have the ability to remain calm and in composed manner in the face of pressure. Must participate in and successfully complete the approved Apprentice Dispatcher two year, four step program I.C.S. POSITION SUMMARY: Provides continuous monitoring of the Association's radio communications during the regular work day. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Planning: Plans work to assure that all is completed in an orderly fashion. Performs Personally: Assists the dispatcher in performing their duties and responsibilities as outlined below. 2. Operates a radio, and constantly monitors radio activity during the work day. Apprentice Dispatcher Page 2 3. Logs all radio communications from the Line Department. 4. Logs all switching requests and follows-up to see that switching is back to normal at the end of each work day. 5. Handles all switching orders, and issues hotline orders, deadline clearances, and deck equipment clearances. 6. Maintains transformer, meter, and outage records. 7. Maintains dispatch room maps. , 8. Receives and directs all telephone calls to the Line Department, including outages and customer problems. 9. Dispatches outage crews as directed. 10. Provides reports as directed. 11. Performs other duties of a like or lesser grade which may be assigned. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: This job is considered an inside job, where temperatures are controlled. The worker may be exposed to some vibration while maintaining the dispatch maps. No known hazards exist in this position. TEMPERAMENTS: 1.
