on the scene. Write your responses to each close reading prompt neatly on your own paper. You may also
choose to submit via Google Drive. Be sure to write or type the act and scene you have chosen at the top of the
document you hand in. DO YOUR OWN WORK. Entries that are copied or plagiarized in any way will earn a
grade of zero; this is a major assignment and is due on the due date. This grade cannot be made up.

Entry #2: Graphic Organizer
Create graphic organizer of your choice showing some kind of relationship between characters, ideas, themes, events, etc.
in the scene. You may choose to focus on cause and effect, characterization, plot, comparison and/or contrast, etc.
Complete the graphic organizer using specific evidence from the play. For a good selection of appropriate graphic

Entry #3: Wordsmith
Choose 4 words from the reading that may be new, different, difficult, interesting or important. For each word, provide
the following information. Remember, you will complete this chart four times, each time for a different word.

Entry #4: Research
Dig up some background information on any topic related to the text of the scene. This could include the history or
geography of the scene’s setting, information about a custom or event discussed in the scene, information about a
particular character as he/she is portrayed in the scene, etc. Whatever topic you choose to research, be sure that you can
link it to the specific scene you chose. Include the website(s) at which you found your information, and summarize the
information you found. Your summary must be in your own words, paraphrasing the information from the source.

Entry #5: Questions
Generate at least five questions that could be used to incite deeper thought about the scene. These questions
should invite thoughts, feelings, reactions, concerns, and insights about the scene’s events, character
motivations, themes, significance, etc. These should not be basic comprehension or yes/no questions. A list of
question starters will be available on the class web page at teacherweb.com.
Entry #6: Evaluation of Decisions
Choose one character whose decisions in this scene seem particularly wise or unwise. In a well-developed paragraph,
explain his/her decision and why you evaluate it as you do. Cite specific evidence from the scene as support.
Entry #7: Thoughts about feuds and feuding or Thoughts about love and/or love at first sight
