WANTED The Wise County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 4 Constable and the Runaway Bay Department of Public Safety are looking for young adults, ages 14 to 20, to join the Wise County Law Enforcement Explorer Post 500. If you, or someone you know is interested in learning about police work as a future career, contact us. Law Enforcement Exploring is a division of the Boy Scouts of America, in which young men and women between the ages of 14 (must have completed the 8th grade) and 20 can explore a career in law enforcement. Explorers receive training in areas such as firearms usage, arrest control, domestic violence, crime scene investigation, patrol duties, communications, traffic stops, tactical operations, and many other areas of criminal justice. The Explorers are sometimes called upon to assist the Sheriff’s or Police Departments with duties such as traffic control, crowd control, search and rescue, and emergency situations. Additionally, Explorers work alongside officers and dispatchers to experience law enforcement first-hand.
