Welcome Pastor Gary Knerr and his family
God uses money as a testimony in the lives of His people.
“But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matt. 6:33).
Deadline for the weekly bulletin is Wednesday at Noon.
Please notify the church office when you or a loved one goes into the hospital and
would desire a visit.
One Last Thank You Gordy and I want to say "thank you” one last time before we sail off
into the sunset. It has been such a joy and privilege to serve with all of you at
Grove. Thank you for four wonderful years. The retirement dinner was so much fun, the
gifts overwhelming. So when I opened the envelope you gave me last Sunday, I was
shocked to find more! There are no words to express my gratitude for your generosity and
for the wonderful spirit of Grove Church. We will keep you in our prayers, and wish for
you all the best in the years ahead with Pastor Gary. Thank you to everyone who made
these last few weeks so memorable, and to all of Grove for these four fantastic years. Be
well and be God’s. Bron and Gordy Yocum
Prayers for New Pastor Over the next several weeks our new pastor, the Rev. Gary
Knerr, and his family will be moving into their new home and preparing to begin ministry at
Grove. Please keep them in your prayers as they settle in and get to know their new
community. And plan to be present next Sunday, July 3, as Rev. Knerr enters the Grove
pulpit for the first time.
Next Week is Name Tag Sunday Let's make it easier for Pastor Gary to get to know us
and maybe learn some new names ourselves. Wear your Grove name tag (on the wall
near the coat closet) or make a name tag at the table in the front hall.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Rotation Sunday School Teachers are really, Really, REALLY needed during the
summer months for our Rotation Sunday School Classes! Attendance is normally lower,
so the kids' groups are combined, which means you'd only need to cover a class for ONE
week instead of two. Lesson plans are sent out in plenty of time and you'd have an adult
helper with you. Sign up sheets are posted in the hallway or see Patti Klotz if you're
interested.
CHURCH AND SOCIETY
Circle of Giving During June we will be collecting your donations of condiments (e.g.,
mustard, catsup, relish, pickles, olives, etc.) Please place your contributions in the
wooden box inside the church entrance on Sunday or anytime you are at the church. All
contributions will be delivered to the West Chester Food Cupboard. We continue to
average 30 pounds of donations each week. Join Grove's faithful who continue to minister
to the hungry of our area. In July we will be collecting all kinds of soup (Chunky and
Progresso preferred).
Prevention of Gun Violence So much for "common sense" legislation to help prevent
gun violence.....for the time being. In the interest of gun safety in the home keyed, trigger
locks are available at no cost by contacting Bill Seybold (610-696-3699). This lock is not a
substitute for safe firearms handling and storage. Ideally, all persons who own a gun
should take a course on the proper handing of the gun. The National Rifle Association
(NRA) offers such a course. Please contact them.
"Living For Jesus, Changing Lives" To give meaningful expression to our Church
motto, please consider submitting a brief account that you have experienced or observed
through which a person's life (not necessarily a Grove person) has been changed. Names
in your account can be anonymous....but, the submitter must identify him/her self.
Please put your account in a sealed envelope and place it in the Church & Society
mailbox in the coatroom, ATTN: Bill Seybold. Your account will be published in one of
Grove's monthly Newsletters.
Paper For People We will NOT be collecting your donations on July 3rd because of the
holiday. We will be receiving your donations on Sunday, July 10th. Your donations will
benefit those at the Chester County Domestic Violence Center.
Next Grove Workday for Good Works Saturday, July 9th is our next workday and we’d
love to have you join us as we continue home repairs at Dedra’s house in Coatesville.
New volunteers are always welcome. You don’t need any special skills, just an open heart
for someone who needs our help. Adults and senior high youth are welcome. To volunteer
or obtain information, contact Betty at [email protected].
Music Ministry
Attention all Grove Men! Come and sing with the men of grove on Sunday, July 3, as we
celebrate our nation with a hymn of praise to God! All men are invited to the choir room at
8:45 on July 3, to learn an easy anthem to sing at the 9:30 service. After rehearsing, we
will head down to the sanctuary about 10 minutes before the service and sit with families
or friends. This will be Pastor Knerr's first Sunday at Grove, so we want to have a great
representation of our singing! Please direct questions to Mike Shoremount, director of
traditional music: [email protected]
Summer Choir Anyone interested in singing with the summer choir should mark the
following dates in their calendar:
7/17 full summer choir
8/14 women's choir
8/21 full summer choir
NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY AND MUSIC READING ABILITY IS NOT NEEDED!
All interested singers (high school age and up) should come to the choir room at 8:45 on
these Sunday's to work on the morning's anthem. After a 30 minute rehearsal, we will
head down to the sanctuary. You may sit with your families or friends, just come up to the
front at the time of the anthem.
****Please also mark Thursday night, September 8th down for the first practice of the
program year for the tabernacle choir. Practices are each Thursday night from 7:30-9:15,
with a brief snack break during rehearsal. Come out to sing some excellent music and
enjoy fellowship and fun with our choir! The tabernacle choir is open to any adult as well
as high school age members of our youth choir. Childcare is available during Thursday
night rehearsals for members of our bell and tabernacle choirs.

UPCOMING EVENTS/MEETINGS
CROP Walk 2016 - Save the Date The Downingtown Area CROP Hunger Walk is
celebrating its 30th anniversary this year on Sunday, October 2nd. Mark your calendar and
plan to walk to raise funds and awareness to help end hunger both locally and globally.
We need a few volunteers to help in September with signing up walkers for the Grove
Team between services on Sundays. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Betty
through the Grove office at [email protected].
Grove Campus Taskforce
Grove Campus Taskforce has been formed to “research, define and present viable
options for the development of the Grove Campus, including financial implications”. It will
review both current and future ministries. The review will also look at repairs currently
needed, and those soon to be required due to an ageing infrastructure. The taskforce is
NOT making any decisions, but rather, gathering information and congregational input.
The members of this Campus Taskforce are; Becky Aaker, Glenn Brooks, Cindy George,
Robert Moore, Matthew Morley, and Eric Schwalm.
Please reach out to any member of the taskforce, or use the special email address below
to input your thoughts and ideas. [email protected], The congregation
will be kept apprised of the Campus Taskforce findings and help develop a plan forward
for Grove.
MISCELLANEOUS
