SAND RACING (JERSEY) ORDER 2007

THE MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT AND TECHNICAL SERVICES, in
pursuance of Article 2 of the Motor Vehicle Races (Jersey) Law 19461, on the
application of the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club and after
consultation with the Minister for Economic Development, orders as follows –

Interpretation
In this Order –
“Millbrook course” means a part of the beach in St. Aubin’s Bay, to be
determined by the promoters, within the area bounded –
(a)
on the north by the sea wall;
(b)
on the east by an imaginary line running from north to south and
intersecting the sea wall at the boundary between the parishes of
St. Helier and St. Lawrence;
(c)
on the south by the sea; and
(d)
on the west by an imaginary line running from north to south and
intersecting the sea wall at the nearest point to the western side of
Les Marais Avenue;
“promoters” means the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club;
“St. Ouen’s Bay course” means a part of the beach in St. Ouen’s Bay, to
be determined by the promoters, within the area bounded –
(a)
on the north by an imaginary line running from east to west and
intersecting the sea wall immediately to the west of the junction of
Route B.41 with La Grande Route des Mielles (Route B.35);
(b)
on the east by the sea wall;
(c)
on the south by an imaginary line running parallel to and at a
distance of 1600 yards to the south of the imaginary line specified
in paragraph (a); and
(d)
on the west by the sea;

“West Park course” means a part of the beach in St. Aubin’s Bay, to be
determined by the promoters, within the area bounded –

(a)
on the north by the sea wall;
(b)
on the east by an imaginary line running from north-east to southwest and intersecting the slipway at West Park;
(c)
on the south by the sea; and
(d)
on the west by an imaginary line –
(i)
running parallel to and at a distance of 650 metres to the
west of the line specified in paragraph (b), and
(ii)
intersecting the groyne on the sea wall opposite the Bay
View Hotel.
Use of beaches for motor racing
(1)
Subject to the Sand Racing (General Provisions) (Jersey) Order 19592, the
promoters may, on the dates and between the times specified in respect of
those courses in the Schedule –
(a)
(b)
(2)
(3)
use the Millbrook course, the West Park course and the St. Ouen’s
Bay course –
(i)
in any case where practices are specified in the Schedule, for
practices for races with motor vehicles, or
(ii)
in any other case, for races, and practices for races, with
motor vehicles; and
for those purposes close those courses.
If bad visibility or other adverse conditions render it inadvisable to hold
races with motor vehicles using the Millbrook course on any of the dates
specified in the Schedule for that course, the promoters may –
(a)
postpone those races; and
(b)
use that course for the postponed races and for practices for races,
and for that purpose close the course, on 15th September 2007
between 1.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
If bad visibility or other adverse conditions render it inadvisable to hold
races with motor vehicles using the St. Ouen’s Bay course on any of the
dates specified in the Schedule (other than 1st September 2007) for that
course, the promoters may –
(a)
postpone those races; and
(b)
use that course for the postponed races and for practices for races,
and for those purposes close the course, on 18th August 2007
between 2.00 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.
