Dear Friends and Patrons of the Spring Lake Theatre Company,
First, we would like to thank you, our loyal patrons, for voting Spring Lake Theatre
Company the BEST Community Theater in Monmouth County in the Asbury Park
Press Readers Choice Contest for seven out of the last eight years! We counted
each and every vote on our 2015 Scrooge Patron Survey and the results were clear.
Grease is our first show of the 2016-2017 season and Oliver, Seussical and
Godspell, all following closely behind in the vote count, will follow. Surprisingly
enough, William Shakespeare is still a star. Midsummer Night’s Dream was the
outstanding leader in the non-musical category. We are ready and eager to bring
you a fun-filled season for families of all ages!

We are trying something new this year which we hope will please our faithful
patrons. After numerous suggestions on our survey and deep consideration, we
have decided to move our evening curtain time up to 7:30 PM for ALL
PERFORMANCES. Please make a note of this; no more 8:00 PM performances! We
will be pushing out reminders regularly to all ticket holders regarding this change.
We hope that you are as excited about this new season as we are. We depend on
your patronage to enable us to continue to bring the highest quality theatre
available south of Broadway! We are blessed with an incredibly talented group of
directors, designers and performers who love having the opportunity to share
their gifts with you. Please spread the word; there is no place like the Spring Lake
Theatre!

One of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream tells the
story of four Athenian lovers and a group of actors who find themselves lost in a
mystical forest. Each person experiences unique encounters with the spirits (or
faeries) who inhabit that place. Filled with comedy, romance, magic, music and even
a little dancing, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a celebration of life and everything
that makes falling in love so magical.

In Godspell, the Gospel according to Matthew is presented in modern-day setting.
This musical (written by Stephen Schwartz of Wicked fame) is based around a small
group of friends coming together to understand love and ultimately, loss. The show
has the ability to make you laugh and weep; through two acts, Godspell takes its
audience through an inspiring and experimental journey of what it means to truly be
human. Favorite songs include Day By Day and We Beseech Thee.
