Sister Anita Marie (left) was born in Osage, OK. She knew in third grade that she wanted to dedicate her life to God and pursue the
life of a Benedictine Sister. She was not raised a Catholic, but converted as an adult. She was a teacher and principal. She was
also the administrator of the hospital the community operated in Guthrie. Sr. Anita Marie was the prioress through the 1970s and
until 1983. She also took special care of the elderly sisters of the community. When she was no longer prioress she took a year off
to study scripture and spent a semester in Israel. She even climbed Mount Sinai and was very proud of that accomplishment.
Sister Jacinta was born in Shattuck, OK. She knew at an early age that she wanted to join the Benedictine Sisters. She entered the
Monastery in 1946. Sister Jacinta earned several degrees in education and administration. In addition to teaching at Monte Cassino,
Sister Jacinta also started the Schools Attuned program and directed it for 10 years. In 1983 she was elected Prioress of St. Joseph
Monastery. Sister Jacinta enjoys reading about the lives of saints as well as other spiritual materials. She makes praying for the
sick, elderly, and lonely individuals of our world a daily priority.
