Our engineering powerhouse has produced award-winning cars that have been raced around the world since 1988. The cars that come out of our workshop are always intricately designed. This philosophy comes from the fact that we strongly believe that this is the best way to bring out the best of people engineering-wise. The team from ETS always had and will always have only one goal: victory. In Formula ETS, we analyze, understand how things work, push the boundaries, test and validate over and over again, because we know there are no good answers in engineering, only good compromises. For those reasons, our team is perceived as one of the leaders in their field, which ultimately promotes engineering excellence from Quebec, all around the world. Every year, the ETS racing team travels around the world to compete against 500 others universities that all design and build their own unique Formula SAE race car. The cars and the teams are judged in a series of static and dynamic events that allow teams to score a maximum of 1000 points. Before being able to score any points, the cars also have to be rules compliant. Every car goes through scrutineering at the beginning of every competition. 23% 10% 13% 7% 10% STATIC EVENTS DYNAMIC EVENTS Presentation (75 pts) – The team presents a business plan in order to sell prototypes and is judged by potential investors in the industry. Acceleration (100 pts) – The car accelerates through a 75 meter distance from a complete stop. Engineering design (150 pts) – Engineers from the industry evaluate the team’s knowledge on numerous design aspects of the car. Cost Analysis (100 pts) – Challenges the team to think about the manufacturing of the car in order to reduce its price. Skid-Pad (75 pts) – Evaluates the car’s cornering ability on a flat surface while travelling a constant radius curve. Autocross (125 pts) – Qualifying event where the vehicle’s handling characteristics are evaluated with a stopwatch. Endurance (275 pts) – Multiple lap race of 22 km with one driver change at half distance. Efficiency (100 pts) – Measures the fuel efficiency of the car during the endurance. FINANCIAL SUPPORT A Formula Student car is an ambitious project that requires a lot of material, financial and human investments. Being a voluntary-based project, having technological and industrial partners becomes essential in order to achieve our goals. By supporting Formula ETS financially in the realization of the innovative Formula-type race car, you are also supporting future engineers in their academic and professional development.
