Technical Data Sheet RACK/Stripper 35 A Nitric Acid Based Rack Stripper for Tin, Lead, and Copper Product Description RACK/Stripper 35 is a stabilized nitric acid solution designed to effectively strip tin, solder and copper from plating racks. RACK/Stripper 35 can hold in excess of 20 ounces per gallon of metal, does not contain peroxides or persulfates, or fluoborates, and is easily waste treated via simple pH adjust when spent. Performance Features • RACK/Stripper 35 can be operated at room temperature or mildly heated to speed stripping speed. • Due to high metal loading, RACK/Stripper 35 is very economical. • RACK/Stripper 35 does not contain peroxides, persulfates, or fluoborates and is thus easy to employ and waste treat. Physical Specifications Physical State Appearance Odor Stability Specific Gravity pH Liquid Clear Solution None Stable Unless Heated 1.19 <1 Equipment Requirements Tanks: Constructed Of PVC Or CPVC, Stainless Steel 304, 440, Or 316, Or Hastelloy C. Racks: Constructed of Plastisol Coated Steel. Cooling Coils: Teflon. Ventilation: Recommended Product Make-Up RACK/Stripper 35 can be diluted up to 50% with distilled or deionized water prior to use. Diluting the product will reduce it’s holding capacity but extend useful operating life if the product is used infrequently. NOTE: If the product is being diluted, please note you should add RACK/Stripper 35 to water. Never add water to RACK/Stripper 35. 13505 Industrial Park Blvd. Plymouth, MN 55441 Technical Data Sheet Operating Parameters RACK/Stripper 35 should be operated at temperatures less than 120°F. Because the potential for an exothermic reaction exists with RACK/Stripper 35, a cooling coil is required to assure temperatures do not exceed 120°F. It is also important not to overload the tank with racks. Because heat is generated during stripping, attempting to strip too many racks at one time may exceed the capacity of the cooling coil to maintain the temperature below 120°F. When the strip rate becomes undesirably long, even at 100% strength, the solution is saturated with metal and must be dumped. Refer to the Waste Treatment section for recommended treatment methods. Safety and Handling Read and understand this product’s MSDS before handling. Waste Treatment When spent, RACK/Stripper 35 may contain high levels of copper, lead, nickel, and tin. Spent solutions are also very acidic. Individual users should verify the nature of spent solutions to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Contact Seacole for specific details and/or further waste treatment recommendations.
