W E CRUSH COMPACT SALT INTO A SMALL - GRAINED , FREE FLOWING MATERI AL
BACKGROUND
Fine-grained sodium chloride (NaCl) without the addition of anti-clumping
agents in the sacks (e.g. API pharmaceutical grade) quickly solidifies during
storage. This has unfortunate consequences for further processing, as highly
clumped NaCl is inappropriate for layering and adding into stirring containers.
In addition, it can also negatively influence the process, because the particle
sizes are highly variable, and can fail uncontrollably. This can have negative
impacts on process quality and processing time.
SOLUTIONS
The frequently used "emergency solution" using manual pounding and crushing the NaCl through
mechanical action "from the outside" is hardly suitable for pharmaceuticals, and does not lead to a
uniformly-crushed product.
Frewitt presents an industrial solution which is suitable for pharmaceuticals.

SOLUTION 1 USING A LUMP BREAKER
The lump breaker is equipped with two counter-rotating crushing
rollers. The sack contents are simply introduced at the top, and in
less than 30 seconds, 2 sacks weighing 25 kg apiece are
processed. The main part of the final product is again a finegrained powder, which with this solution can have small clumps
up to 20 mm. Parts touching the product are all made of rust-free
AISI 316.
This is an economical version which is easy to use.
SOLUTION 2 USING A DELUMPWITT
The DelumpWitt brings together two functions: breaking and milling in one
machine and in one step. The bags are cut open over an inlet hopper and
simply poured into the hopper, where the lumps come to a crusher. From here,
these move to the downstream grater, where the product is processed into a
uniform, fine-grained, free-flowing product. The end fineness can be controlled
by the size of the grater holes.
The closed system ensures dust-free
processing. The modular design makes rapid dismantling possible for
inspection and cleaning. The whole process is fast (up to 8 tons/hour), simple
and gentle to the product.
