Hello Gates Families!
The countdown to the end of the year has started! It’s hard to believe we
only have one month of school left. We are all working hard to stave off
Summer Break Fever and our classrooms are still focused on learning and
growing. This is such a busy time of the year and we have lots of activities and events planned all the way until June. Keep in touch with your
child’s teacher so you don’t miss anything important.
OPEN HOUSE is right around the corner. We hope you take the time to come
and visit your child’s class and enjoy the displays the kids are so excited
to present. They have worked so hard all year and we celebrate their success with Open House. In addition, each student will have a piece of art
displayed in the Art Docent Student Art Show and Sale. This program has
been an integral part of the school for the last 12 years and is run entirely though volunteers and donations. The money collected for the art
sale will help fund the Art Docent Project next school year. Don’t forget
to stop by the quad area to take in the 5th graders’ annual Wax Museum.
Students have chosen a historical figure to study, and will present a little monologue while in costume. They have chosen a wide array of characters to portray and you will be impressed. We hope to see you there!
Don’t forget, May 17th is a MINIMUM DAY schedule for our students with all
1st through 5th graders dismissed at 1:45 and PM Kindergarten times 8:15 to
11:35.
A big round of applause to our 2nd through 5th grade students and teachers
for completing STAR testing last week. We appreciate the students for putting forth the effort to do their best, and their parents for helping their
children through the process. Our students’ growth and progress over the
last few years has been wonderful and we look forward to seeing the additional growth this school year. The results of these tests will be released in August and student reports will be mailed home to parents around
the same time.
Just as a reminder, our last day of instruction is Tuesday, June 12th.
Monday and Tuesday of that week are minimum days with all 1st through 5th
grade students dismissed at 1:45. All Kindergarten classes will be 8:15 to
11:35. Mark your calendar now!
