BECKWITH RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES
Beckwith Residential Support Services provides support for first floor residents of Nugent
Hall with physical disabilities who require assistance in the performance of basic activities
of daily living. Rooms on this floor are state-of-the-art in design and technology.
Choosing to live with us means you can eat in any dining hall on
campus. Students living in undergraduate residence halls can
choose from one of four meal plans:
GENDER-INCLUSIVE HOUSING OPTIONS
University Housing offers a variety of room types and bathroom configurations to
accommodate students of all gender identities or gender expressions. The genderinclusive wing in Allen Hall, located on Allen 1 North, allows in-room coed, and the
community bathroom is gender-inclusive—individuals of any gender or gender identity
may use the same bathroom at the same time. Wassaja Hall offers gender-inclusive rooms
with in-room coed. All bathrooms in Wassaja are individual use. To learn about additional
options, visit housing.illinois.edu/lgbtq.
NON-VISITATION
The Non-Visitation Community is a living option where members agree to not have visitors
of the opposite gender in their rooms at any time. The community is located in four rooms
in Evans Hall.

Illini Cash can be purchased at any time as a supplement to your meal plan. They are used like Café Credits
to purchase either classic meals or a la carte items.
SCHOLARS COMMUNITY
The Scholars Community is designed for residents interested in pursuing research projects
and participating in academically focused programming. This community is located on two
coed floors in Leonard Hall, part of the Lincoln Avenue Residence Halls.
University Housing meal plans are welcomed at all six residence hall dining locations (including specialty
restaurants). All-you-care-to-eat specialty restaurants feature dishes from a variety of cuisines, and are
offered at different meals and locations throughout the week. A la carte locations offer items that are priced

As a meal plan holder, you’ll have access to Housing’s dietitian for information on healthy eating, food
allergies, and special diets. Visit www.housing.illinois.edu/EatSmart.
TRANSFER CLUSTER
The Transfer Cluster brings together transfer students in a supportive setting. The staff
in this community focus on the interests and needs of transfer students to assist their
transition to Illinois. This community is located in Scott Hall, part of Ikenberry Commons

How We Make Assignments
Among the many great reasons to choose
the University of Illinois is the opportunity
to choose your own room, even as a new
student. With our individualized process,
you will be able to select a specific hall and
room directly in the online housing contract.
Please accept your offer of admission to
the University of Illinois, and then wait two
business days before completing your housing
contract at www.housing.illinois.edu. We look
forward to welcoming you to our community!
Common Questions
EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH THE ONLINE PROCESS?
To ensure your contract process can be completed successfully, please first accept your offer of
admission to the University of Illinois and then wait two business days before completing your online
housing contract. Also check your Internet options and enable the use of third party cookies. If you still
encounter problems, please contact us.
WHERE CAN I SEE THE CONTRACT TERMS?
Visit www.housing.illinois.edu/forms. In addition to the terms and conditions of your contract, our hall policies
outline the expectations of our community in University Housing. See www.housing.illinois.edu/Hallmarks.
Residence Hall Room Selection is a Two-Step Process
WHAT IF I NEED SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION?
PRIORITY DEADLINE: MAY 15
If you need special accommodation because of a disability or medical need, please indicate so on your
online contract. If you did not indicate this on your contract, please contact us at [email protected] or
(217) 333-7111 and we will be happy to help. For more information, please visit www.housing.illinois.edu/ADA.
1. Complete a University Housing contract online by May 15, 2016. If you complete your contract by this
priority deadline, in late May you will be assigned an entry time. We assign entry times in a random order.

Getting Started.
2. When your entry time arrives, log back in to your contract and choose a space from available rooms
across campus. You will also choose a meal plan at this stage. You can return to the online system and
make changes from the beginning of your entry time until the process closes in June and you receive your
assignment notice.
Why Random?
We assign entry
times in random
order so that all
students, regardless
of when they are
admitted, have
an equal chance
of receiving their
preferences. Some
students must
wait to accept the
University’s offer
of admission until
after they audition
or receive a financial
aid award letter.
LIVING-LEARNING COMMUNITY SELECTION
If you have preferenced a Living-Learning Community, completed the essay, and
received approval, you will be assigned an early entry time in late May to select
your space.
SPECIAL LIVING OPTIONS
If you are interested in one of our Special Living Options, be sure to choose it as
one of your preferences by May 15.
ROOMMATE SELECTION
You will be able to tell us your roommate preferences during either step one or
step two of the process, but if you know in advance we recommend indicating
your preference in the first step of the process. You may also search for a
compatible roommate within the system.
NOTIFICATIONS
You will receive a notice in late June that confirms your fall room selection and
provides the name of your roommate.
AFTER MAY 15
Even if you miss the May 15 priority deadline, we will still have a space for you!
University Housing will select a room and roommate for you based on the
location preferences you provide in the online contract.
ARE GENDER-INCLUSIVE OPTIONS AVAILABLE?
University Housing aims to provide a safe, welcoming home for students of all identities. We are eager to help
you find a community! Visit http://housing.illinois.edu/lgbtq or talk to our friendly staff at (217) 333-7111.

WHICH HALLS HAVE AIR CONDITIONING?
Double Room, Weston (before)
Bousfield, Busey-Evans, Hopkins, Nugent, Oglesby (FAR), Scott, Snyder,
Townsend (ISR), Trelease (FAR), Wassaja, Wardall (ISR), and Weston Halls.
WHICH HALLS HAVE LOFTABLE FURNITURE?
Allen; Busey-Evans; Oglesby & Trelease (FAR); Townsend & Wardall (ISR);
Leonard & Shelden (LAR); Babcock, Blaisdell, Carr, & Saunders (PAR); and
Bousfield, Nugent, Scott, and Wassaja Halls.
WHAT SAFETY MEASURES ARE IN PLACE?
Double Room, Weston (after)
All University Housing residence halls are locked 24 hours a day. Residents use
i-cards for access. Other security measures, such as cameras in common areas and entryways and security personnel, are in use.
WHEN DO I MOVE IN?
In the Undergraduate Residence Halls, freshmen move in August 18, 2016, and returning students move in
August 20. First-year residents of Living-Learning Communities who are attending LLC orientation move in
August 16.
CAN I ARRIVE EARLY?
If you need to move in prior to your designated move-in day, you may do so as early as Sunday, August
14, at 12 noon—no prior approval is necessary. Simply check in at your area office. Early move-in fees
are charged directly to your student account. Please visit www.housing.illinois.edu/movein for more
information.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED IN MY COMMUNITY?
We make it easy to get involved in one of the many hall or central housing organizations that meet around
common interests, ranging from music and art, to social justice and identity-based groups. Whether it’s
exploring other cultures, getting involved with hall council, or being an I-Guide who assists new students
during move-in, you will have plenty to do. Visit www.housing.illinois.edu/getinvolved.
DO OTHER STUDENTS HELP WITH MOVE-IN?
Our 500-plus Illini Guides (I-Guides) are returning residents who volunteer to help students move in. They
direct traffic, arrange parking, move your belongings into your hall, and are a great source of information
about the campus. I-Guides are a part of the network of University Housing staff members who will be here
to welcome you into your new home.
CAN I PARK ON CAMPUS?
Parking on campus is extremely limited and is purchased directly through campus parking:
www.parking.illinois.edu.
HOW DOES THE RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT
WORK?
Double Room, FAR (before)
In some cases you may be able to cancel your
contract with a private certified housing facility
to contract with University Housing or vice
versa. The deadline for new students applying
to switch for fall semester is August 18, 2016.
WHERE DO I RECEIVE MY BILL?
Your housing charges will be billed to
your student account and will appear with
Double Room, FAR (after)
tuition and fees at the beginning of each
semester. Room changes, printing, and other
miscellaneous charges could appear as they are billed each month. It is important to check
your student account for any charges each month at https://paymybill.uillinois.edu/Access.
HOW DO I ADD AN AUTHORIZED CONTACT?
If you wish, you may provide the name of an authorized contact who has permission to
speak with the University Housing Information Office staff about your assignment, contract,
and Housing-related financial charges. If you are interested, please check the appropriate
box in your online contract and fill out the required information.
