How We Make Assignments Among the many great reasons to choose the University of Illinois is the opportunity to choose your own room, even as a new student. With our individualized process, you will be able to select a specific hall and room directly in the online housing contract. Please accept your offer of admission to the University of Illinois, and then wait two business days before completing your housing contract at www.housing.illinois.edu. We look forward to welcoming you to our community! Common Questions EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH THE ONLINE PROCESS? To ensure your contract process can be completed successfully, please first accept your offer of admission to the University of Illinois and then wait two business days before completing your online housing contract. Also check your Internet options and enable the use of third party cookies. If you still encounter problems, please contact us. WHERE CAN I SEE THE CONTRACT TERMS? Visit www.housing.illinois.edu/forms. In addition to the terms and conditions of your contract, our hall policies outline the expectations of our community in University Housing. See www.housing.illinois.edu/Hallmarks. Residence Hall Room Selection is a Two-Step Process WHAT IF I NEED SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION? PRIORITY DEADLINE: MAY 15 If you need special accommodation because of a disability or medical need, please indicate so on your online contract. If you did not indicate this on your contract, please contact us at [email protected] or (217) 333-7111 and we will be happy to help. For more information, please visit www.housing.illinois.edu/ADA. 1. Complete a University Housing contract online by May 15, 2016. If you complete your contract by this priority deadline, in late May you will be assigned an entry time. We assign entry times in a random order. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Getting Started. 2. When your entry time arrives, log back in to your contract and choose a space from available rooms across campus. You will also choose a meal plan at this stage. You can return to the online system and make changes from the beginning of your entry time until the process closes in June and you receive your assignment notice. Why Random? We assign entry times in random order so that all students, regardless of when they are admitted, have an equal chance of receiving their preferences. Some students must wait to accept the University’s offer of admission until after they audition or receive a financial aid award letter. LIVING-LEARNING COMMUNITY SELECTION If you have preferenced a Living-Learning Community, completed the essay, and received approval, you will be assigned an early entry time in late May to select your space. SPECIAL LIVING OPTIONS If you are interested in one of our Special Living Options, be sure to choose it as one of your preferences by May 15. ROOMMATE SELECTION You will be able to tell us your roommate preferences during either step one or step two of the process, but if you know in advance we recommend indicating your preference in the first step of the process. You may also search for a compatible roommate within the system. NOTIFICATIONS You will receive a notice in late June that confirms your fall room selection and provides the name of your roommate. AFTER MAY 15 Even if you miss the May 15 priority deadline, we will still have a space for you! University Housing will select a room and roommate for you based on the location preferences you provide in the online contract. ARE GENDER-INCLUSIVE OPTIONS AVAILABLE? University Housing aims to provide a safe, welcoming home for students of all identities. We are eager to help you find a community!
