Evelyn was an AAUW member since July 1, 1972. She graduated from Southern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Later she received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University. She retired from the EBRP Court’s Family Detention Center as a supervisor. Evelyn was an active member of several organizations as well as in her church and community. She was very active in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Jack and Jill of America and America Association of University Women. She has received many awards and honors from her services which she dearly cherished. As an AAUW member, she was a frequent attendant of the Morning Book Group. On November 21, 2015, she spearheaded (at Southern University Union) the review of the book about Southern University from the author himself, Everett Gibson. Unfortunately, due to her illness she was unable to attend and the faithful group members were able to give her a good report of the well attended meeting. In, 1973 Evelyn served as Chairman of the Campus Study Group, with Susan Dawson influencing her to become a member. In 1999, she became the first African American President of the BR Branch of AAUW. You would often see her at most meetings, Interest groups and whatever AAUW was involved in at the time. She worked tirelessly; enjoying the superb results from what she saw as a group effort; be it one or many. She was also a Silver Magnolia, an award recognition for women 70 and over who have made great and notable contributions to their city presented by the Women’s Council of Greater Baton Rouge. If you would like to make a contribution to the Eleanor Earle Scholarship Fund in Evelyn’s name, please mail your check to our treasurer: Rebecca Triche 527 Glenmore Ave. Apt, B Baton Rouge, LA 70806-0801 Evelyn Robinson, it was a pleasure knowing you.
