SHOPPING
When you go shopping with your child, get them to estimate how much the shopping
will be by rounding up the prices as you add items to the trolley or basket.
Weekend Fun & Games
RAND and DICE
Use the homework coins and one dice. The aim is to collect the correct number of
coins to make exactly two Rand. Play with a friend and take turns to roll the dice. Take
the correct coin from your pile as you throw the dice.
Use the numbers on the dice for these coins:
1 – R1 coin
4 – 20c coin
2 – 5c coin
5 – 50c coin
3 – 10c coin
6 – Miss a turn
The winner is the first player to reach exactly two Rand.
If taking a coin would put the player over two Rand, the player loses the turn.
Variations:
Make the game more difficult to find different amounts such as R1.25, R2.40 etc. Set
the amount before the game starts.
