Catechist Retreat - August 20
It is not too early to register for a Catechist Retreat open to Adult Formation people as
well as those who work with children. It will be hosted by Holy Cross Church in
Lynchburg on August 20, 10 am - 3 p.m. The Facilitator is Dr. Patricia McCormack,
IH. $15 will cover lunch, refreshments, and materials. Registration deadline is August

Our Turn -Second Helping- Aug.24th
It will be our turn to do Second Helping at Altavista Presbyterian from 11 am -12:30 pm,
on Wednesday, August 24. Anastasia Cowan will have a sign- up sheet in the hall.
All food must be at Altavista Presbyterian by 10:30 a.m. Second Helping is a lunch
prepared and served each week at Altavista Presbyterian. A donation is welcomed for
those who can afford it. The proceeds go to help DAWN (Donation -A-Week- Neighbor),
our local food pantry.
Interested in Joining the Catholic Faith? Are you interested in becoming a Catholic?

have a program for you called the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). We have

Coffee after Mass: Most of us enjoy that cup of coffee in the fellowship hall after mass.
So, we are asking you to take a turn making the coffee on a Sunday morning. Also, if you
would like to bake something or ask a fellow member to assist you that would be great.
Sign-up sheet is under the clock in the hall.
Please include the amount of your donation, particularly the second collection
envelopes. Indicate cash or the number on the check on envelope. Thank you..
Deacon Chris Barrett Offers Liturgy Workshop
Saturday, August 27th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Lynchburg, our
own Deacon Chris will offer a workshop for all liturgical ministers. Register by August
21st. A donation of $5 will cover your lunch and refreshments. This includes altar
servers, ushers, lectors, and ministers of Eucharist, sacristans, banner and flower
people and musicians.
Expressed in Vatican Council II, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, both laity and clergy
are called to "full, active and conscious participation" to ensure that the Mass is celebrated
with "noble simplicity .
Church Picnic Sept. 18th
There is a sign-up sheet under the clock in the church hall. Please indicate how many
in your family will be attending, what your food donation will be and if you can assist
