Dear Parents,
German Trip to the Rhineland -14th to 18th October 2015
I am organising a trip to the Rhineland in Germany for October 2015. This will be an opportunity for pupils
to become acquainted with aspects of German life, to visit some of the wonderful towns and villages along
the Rhine and to put into practice the language they have learned in the classroom.
The trip will take place in the penultimate week before the half term holiday, departing Wednesday 14th
October 2015, returning to Gloucester on Sunday 18th October. Travel will be by coach. Activities will
include a day trip to Cologne, with a visit to a Chocolate Museum, an excursion to the traditional Winevillage of Rüdesheim, a river boat cruise along the Rhine and a visit to Phantasialand, a theme park they
will learn about in unit 5 of their German LOGO2 textbook.
Accommodation during the stay will be in a small family run hotel which is ideally located for all our
excursions and has additional space and flexibility for evening activities. All meals are provided; we will
have a traditional continental breakfast, a packed lunch and a warm evening meal. Appropriate
comprehensive insurance will be arranged, along with private coach hire for the whole trip.
The total cost of the trip, all inclusive, will be £350. Due to county regulations and coach sizes, numbers
are strictly limited to 40 places. These will be allocated by ballot, if the numbers exceed the places.
If you would like your son to take part in the trip to the Rhineland please return the reply slip by Monday
23rd February. DO NOT send any payment yet. I will be able to give you further details once demand is
established and places allocated.
