the Iowa Department of Public Health and public health professionals across the state. IPHI is funded with federal funds
from the Centers for Disease Control and the National Library
of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. The project addresses information needs of Iowa public health professionals
by creating an easy-to-use Web site that emphasizes local
and state public health resources. The Web site design portion of the project has now been completed and you can view
the site at http://www.iowapublichealth.org. For more information about IPHI, contact Jean Sayre ([email protected]).
A Thank You From Sue Maccarillo
I am very grateful for the nameless employees who have
donated 270 hours of their sick time to me in my time of
need. Humanity never ceases to amaze me. Just when everything that could possibly go wrong does, your faith starts to
wear slowly thinner. You turn your face upwards for the answers and the courage to go on. Then someone you see
every day, someone you know, someone you had worked
with in the past, a complete stranger…showers you with compassion and selflessness. It’s good to look up but sometimes
the gift of compassion is standing right next to you.
Thank you,
Sue Maccarillo

A group of dentists decided to set up a new dental practice. Since competition in their area was quite fierce, they
wanted their new business to have something unique about
it. After much thought, they decided to open their practice on
a ship, which was moored on the banks of the river. As an
added bonus, they also offered river crossings, with the dentistry work being performed during the crossing. The business quickly became known as the Tooth Ferry.
