tests and quizzes.

Homework will be assigned on a daily basis and will be checked periodically. At the beginning of each chapter
a syllabus of assignments will be given with a detailed assignment for each day. You are expected to read this
syllabus on a daily basis. ALL problems must be ATTEMPTED to receive full credit. Students should always

Tests & Quizzes:
All Tests and Quizzes are designated on each chapter syllabus and will be verbally announced in class.
Completing, checking and redoing missed homework questions and reviewing class notes are the best way to
prepare for a test or quiz.
Students who are absent for a quiz will have the option to make up the quiz or use their test grade instead.
Students who are absent for a test will be required to take the test during their study hall period. Students
must discuss make up arrangements prior to coming to make up an assessment.
Quiz Drop Policy:
Students who have perfect attendance on ALL quiz and test days will be eligible to drop their lowest quiz
grade each quarter.
Absences due to Field Trips on assessment days: If a student is absent on a quiz day due to a field trip and
would like to be eligible to drop a quiz they must take their quiz BEFORE their field trip; if a student is absent
on a test day due to a field trip the student will be expected to make up the test the first day they return to
class after their absence.
Grading:
Each nine-week final grade is calculated using a cumulative point system. The final grade will therefore be
calculated by:
[Total points earned/ Total points possible] x 100 = Your Grade.
Grade points can be accumulated from the following areas:
• Tests – 100 pts
• Quizzes – 10-40 pts
• Homework Assignments – 4 pts
Absences:
If you are absent you are expected to get the notes from the day(s) you missed. All handouts and worksheets
given in class can be printed from the website. Any assignments that were due during your absence are due
the day you return; no excuses! You have two days to make up any missed work not including the day you
return.
