safer. Neighbourhood Watch has shown to be
an effective means to create a strong sense of
community and help improve the flow of

WE DID….
Parking outside Undy School
We are still regularly patrolling the area during weekdays at
drop off and collection times and working closely with staff
at the school monitoring the safety of parking outside.
Vehicles found to be stopped or parked on the zig zag lines
will be kept on a local database and repeat offenders will
be given a fixed penalty notice or reported for court.
Parking in Millbrook Court
Patrols are still continuing in the area during school times
and advice is being offered to any vehicle owners
inconsiderately parked. The number of cars parked
dangerously has significantly reduced during this term.

Canine Corner
Records show our furry friends in the Dog Section have
been helping out Monmouthshire officers on average twice
a day during January and February. The police dogs were
used for over 127 incidents in Monmouthshire as a whole
with Monmouth being the busiest area for the dogs and
their handlers.
PC Marc Porter and police dog Benny recently helped to
find a local thief who was stealing diesel from an industrial
site in Caldicot. PC Porter had seen the offender running
into a compound. Benny searched the area and found the
criminal hiding in a dark corner. The man later gave
himself up, no doubt due to Benny’s presence!
PC Porter said, ‘Benny is the perfect police dog. He is only a year old and is very energetic. I feel confident when
dealing with criminals as I know he is there to help me out. He can easily outrun a criminal so there is no use
trying to run away from him!
PC Porter added, ‘He is always perfectly under control though and is very obedient. He’s a big softie really.’
Look out for your next newsletter to find out more from our Dog Section.
