Competition for scarce resources Pet shopping… Calista goes Texan Happy Holidays and thanks for the annual chance for me to push pictures of Calista on everybody. We’re fairly settled down in Houston now and enjoying the town (I know… I wouldn’t believe either, if I didn’t live here) as well as work at the Symphony and at Rice, neither of which (as of this writing) seem to have gotten wise to me yet. As I get older and crankier, I find there’s a lot to be said for 70 degree days in December. We’re at the vanguard of Global Warming! Shu-Ching (and Evelyn’s) Birthday Plotting a coup Evelyn (and/or Shu-Ching) continues on the faculty of Teachers College in NYC and has been playing both there and here, while I spent the year attempting to corner the market for playing in music festivals in weird destinations that nobody would go to on purpose. I’m also shopping for a new (well, old) cello, as I’m hoping to be able to spend more time with IRS auditors. Calista is in Kindergarten now and at this point is probably the most cogent member of the family… but then she gets the most sleep. She’s studying violin, piano, ballet etc.. hopefully, only enough to look good on Med School applications. We have a guest house sitting unused, so please call if you someday get the uncontrollable urge to visit Houston. Happy Holidays- we hope to see you in the New Year.
