How to track your progress on the 8-Week Program

How to track your progress on the 8-Week Program
While the 8-Week Program is not a weight-loss diet, many people experience significant changes to their body –
and mood! You may want to monitor yourself and do a pre-Program measurement and a post-Program
measurement. If you’re considering doing this, here are our recommendations:
1. Visit your GP for some quick baseline testing.
Your GP will be able to determine whether your stats are within a safe range and how best to monitor them. Keep
these results safe and book a follow-up appointment for eight weeks’ time. We recommend the following tests:
❏ Total cholesterol
❏ HDL cholesterol
❏ LDL cholesterol
❏ Triglycerides
❏ Liver function test
❏ Insulin
❏ Blood pressure
❏ Glucose
2. Monitor your weight.
We don’t focus on weight as a key indicator of health but we understand some of you may need to for medical
reasons.
A note on BMI: We don’t use BMI as an indicator of health, This is largely due to the fact that your BMI does not
take into account fat or muscle percentages. Only use your BMI alongside other markets for health (i.e. blood tests
and your waist to hip ratio).
3. Monitor your measurements.
See the infographic below to find out how to take your body measurements. For the most accurate results, grab a
mate to help you out.
4. Determine your waist-to-hip ratio:
Your waist-to-hip ratio estimates the fat distribution in your body regardless of your height and build. Excessive
fat around your waist can increase your risk of developing chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
How to do it:
While standing up with your stomach relaxed, measure your waist at its narrowest point. While
standing, measure your hips at their widest point. Enter your stats into
this calculator
to determine whether your
waist-to-hip ratio puts you at a low-, moderate- or high-level risk for chronic diseases. If you are in the high-risk
category, we recommend that you seek medical advice from your doctor.
5. Take a photo!
Some of the benefits of quitting sugar are hard to track with measurements. Want to see how much your skin has
improved, or if your eyes become brighter? Take a photo of yourself now, and one after you’ve finished the
Program. It’s amazing how much of a change you’ll notice after eight short weeks.
Once you’ve completed these tests, hold onto them. We’ll be revisiting your results in eight week’s time.
