The Handbook
Introduction
Welcome
Greetings fellow students and welcome to Selkirk Hall, the finest accommodation
establishment at Imperial College! This handbook is your manual for the day-to-day
workings of Selkirk; five minutes scanning it through will save you considerable aggravation
when you get locked out of your room or lose your favourite coffee mug!
Selkirk Hall is home to 125 students and is one of three halls within the recently rebuilt
Southside. The new Southside replaced the prior 60s era accommodation when it was
completed in 2007. The Eastside development is a similar project next door to Southside.
The other two halls in Southside are Tizard and Falmouth-Keogh. The halls are managed
independently and you will not have access to them, nor their residents to Selkirk. We do,
however, share some facilities, and often collaborate on events and activities.
You can keep track of upcoming hall events, and find out more information about the hall
and its residents on our website and Facebook pages:

The Handbook
The Selkirk Hall Team
The Wardening Team
We are here to ensure that the hall runs smoothly and that any problems you encounter
are addressed early. You will be assigned to a care group led by one of the wardens
depending on where your room is. You are encouraged to go to any of the wardens with
problems or questions, or just to say hello. We are all well acquainted with the College and
the surrounding area, and as we are all long-standing members of College, we know how
College operates and also the types of problems that students can experience when
coming to University. As we work in College, we are not around during the day, although
you should always feel free to send us an email (to either our personal addresses or to
[email protected]) and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Dr. David Payne (Warden, 5th Floor)
Senior Lecturer, Department of Materials
David is the Warden of Selkirk and lives in Hall with his wife
Galina and two sons, Sasha and Tomas. David is a Senior
Lecturer in Materials, but is a chemist by training who mainly
works in the area of physics! Galina is also a Lecturer at
Leicester University working on press freedom and democracy.
David is a major rugby fan, supporting the Ospreys and the
greatest ever team, Wales. He thinks of himself as friendly and
approachable but also takes pride in reminding students of the
various College disciplinary procedures.
Claudia Gasparrini (Subwarden, 1st Floor)
Claudia is a third year PhD student in the Materials Department, she
is Italian and got her degree at Padua University. She loves travelling
and do new experiences abroad, for this reason she moved to
Sweden for a year before coming to London. She loves dining and
going out, but she is also interested in nasty nuclear stuff!
Stephanie Reynolds (Subwarden, 2nd Floor)
Hi and welcome to Imperial! I’m Steph, a PhD student in the Electrical
Engineering department. I also did my undergraduate at Imperial, so I
was in your shoes once (too many years ago to mention)! I know
from experience that first year at Imperial can be really exciting but
also stressful at times, so feel free to stop by my room for a chat if
you want to talk something through. In my spare time I like to learn
languages, play sports (badly) and explore London. I’ve been a
student here long enough to find some great student deals (I once
got second row opera tickets for £10), so let me know if you want
some tips!

Matthew Jackson (Subwarden, 2nd Floor)
Matt is a long serving Imperial student, having done his
undergraduate at imperial before barrelling straight in to a PhD. A
Northern lad by birth, after five years in London you might not be
able to tell – until he has had a bit to drink that is! He also loves his
food, whether home cooking or the best London has to offer.
Consequently, you will often find him at ethos; swimming, running or
at the gym to atone for his culinary sins.

The Handbook
Hall Seniors
Hall Seniors are students who have already had at least one year in residence at Imperial
and they liked it so much, they returned to help out. Their primary role is to help you adjust
and deal with your problems throughout the year and they play an important role in the
social calendar of the hall. They are:

Hall Supervisors
The Hall Supervisors, Frances Fanning and Vlad Jarina, are located in the office on the
Ground floor of Falmouth Hall (the Southside hall closest to Exhibition Road) on weekdays
from 08:00 - 18:00. They’re the people to go to during the day when the wardening team is
at work. You can reach them on 49438 from an internal phone or 020 7594 4938
externally.
Their contact email addresses are:
Ms Frances Fanning
Mr Rahul Gaikwad

The Hall Committee
The Hall Committee gives residents a chance to take part in the running of Selkirk and to
bring up any complaints or issues with service. The Committee is also responsible for
arranging social activities and discussing general affairs such as hall facilities with the
wardening team at bi-monthly meetings. The minutes of the meetings are posted on the
notice boards throughout the hall.
In the second week of term you will be required to choose your floor rep(s) who will represent
you at the Hall Committee so be sure to introduce yourselves to other members of your floor!
In addition, there will be an elected chair and treasurer who will be responsible for chairing
the meeting and having oversight of the hall finances.
Remember that any hall resident is welcome to attend these meetings and has a say. This
is especially important as the committee is responsible for spending the hall amenities fund
- a sizable chunk of money dedicated to hall events!

Access and Keys
Swipe-card
When you move into Selkirk you will be issued your College swipe-card. This serves as
both your identity card as well as granting you access to facilities such as the Library and
Ethos (Imperial College’s Sports Centre), your department and your room in Selkirk.
Access to the entrance of Selkirk and to your room is via a touch pad which is activated by
your swipe-card. It is considered a serious offence to lend your swipe-card to anyone else,
even for a short time.
If you lose your card, replacements can be obtained during the day from the ID card office
in the Sherfield Building (open Monday - Friday 08:30-10.30, 12:00-14:00, 15:45-16:45).
The first replacement is free, but subsequent replacements will cost £10 each. If you lose
your swipe-card and are unable to replace it because the ID card office is closed, please
see the section on Lock-Outs to see who you should contact for assistance. If at any time
you have problems with your swipe-card please ask any of the wardening team for help.
Keys
In addition to your swipe-card you will be issued keys for your kitchen cupboard, lockable
drawer (in your room) and your mailbox. If you lose any of these keys, replacements are
handled by the Hall Supervisors and cost around £10 - £30 depending on the key.
Front Doors
The front doors of Selkirk are opened with your College swipe-card. The card-reader on
the doorframe activates the door for manual opening, and the lower card-reader activates
motorised opening for disabled access. To exit the hall, use the green button for manual
egress and the silver pad for disabled egress. Do not push the red or green emergency
buttons to exit the hall unless there is a genuine fire or emergency. Abuse of these
will be caught by CCTV and punished accordingly.
The front doors also have an intercom panel outside from where your friends can contact
you using the phone extension in your room if they want to be let in.
Door Locks
All rooms in Selkirk are fitted with self-locking doors to minimise opportunistic theft and
protect privacy; therefore it is also important that you do not wedge your door open when
you leave your room and that you ensure the door is properly closed and locked when you
exit. It is imperative to note that if you leave your room without your swipe-card, you will
not be able to get back into your room; thus you must keep it on your person at all
times. See the next section for information on how to be let into your room if you find
yourself locked out.
Lock-Outs
You will probably find yourself locked out at some point during the year. It is important to
remember that this will almost never be considered an emergency by the Hall Supervisors,
the Wardening Team, or Security and so it is reasonable to expect a wait of up to an hour
to be let back in, depending on what else may be going on. Please be careful with your
swipe-card and remember that if you were living in a flat (as you will in the future), a call to
a locksmith to let you back in would cost in excess of £100 and take several hours.
7
The Handbook
Anyone repeatedly locking themselves out will face community service hours. All residents
get a two-week grace period at the start of the year. After that, the first two out-of-hours
readmissions will be granted in exchange for a contribution to your floor in the form of dish
washing! If you need to call the duty warden to be let into your room, meet them in the
kitchen on your floor and they will have you wash a few items. Of course if it’s the middle
of the night, an alternative time to do some washing up may be arranged.
Should you find yourself locked out again there will be further action required for the
subsequent infractions.
Please refer to the below to ensure you contact the correct person. Presumably if you
have left your swipe-card in your room, you also will not have access to this manual, so do
your best to memorise the details or enter them in your mobile.
Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 18:00: Contact the Hall Supervisors (x49438 or 020 759
49438), or attend their office on the Ground Floor of Falmouth Hall.
Monday - Friday, 18:00 - 00:00: Contact the Duty Warden (x57685 or 07740 918 599), or
look up who is on duty (on the floor notice boards or in the foyer) and knock on their door.
Whenever possible, please call before knocking- especially after 23:00.
Weekends and Bank Holidays: Contact the Duty Warden as above.
In between terms: Contact the Duty Warden as above. Please expect longer than normal
waits.
Any day, after 00:00: Report in person to the Weeks
Security Lodge to collect a temporary key, which will
have to be returned the next working day.
8
The Handbook
In the case of an emergency, where you are unable to reach the Hall Supervisors or the
Duty Warden, you can call Weeks Security (020 7589 5111 x58914) or walk over to their
lodge in Weeks Hall (just across the garden). Please keep in mind that there are few cases
where being locked out constitutes an emergency - but they should help you out if you
need to leave for a flight or something along those lines.

The Handbook
Rooms and Defects
Appliances
Please note that cooking appliances are strictly prohibited to be used within bedrooms or
any area other than the hall kitchens. Anyone caught cooking in their rooms will have the
offending appliances confiscated and will face further punishment. Other appliances such
as TVs (though you’ll need a license), computers, stereos, games consoles, air filters, hair
driers and hair straighteners are permitted within rooms.
Windows
All rooms have at least one opening window. All other windows are locked for security and
safety reasons. Tampering with or attempting to disable the window locks or
restrictors is a significant violation of hall policy and will be punished.
Defects
Should you find something broken in your room, please email
[email protected]. You can also report the defect directly to the Hall
Supervisors in their office in Falmouth Hall or online:
http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/accommodation/defectsreporting. These defect reports are
processed by the Hall Supervisors and will be fixed by the College’s maintenance team. If
there is some urgent defect (e.g a water leak, faulty door lock) you can also go directly to
the Hall Supervisors office during the day, or call the duty warden out of hours.

The Handbook
Hall Facilities
Kitchens
Every floor in Selkirk has a shared kitchen for use by all residents. Kitchens are fitted with
ovens, microwaves, toasters and kettles and also have HDTVs and internet access points.
The kitchen televisions are fitted with built-in DVD players and are available for use by
anyone in the hall. Residents using these TVs must observe the 23:00 rule and keep all
noise down after that time.
Please take care in the kitchens and be considerate of your fellow residents. Do not leave
hot pans unattended, or appliances running when you are not using them. Likewise,
please keep your possessions clean and tidy any work surfaces you have used while
cooking. Kitchens are cleaned daily, however the cleaners will not do your washing up.
The kitchens are equipped with heat detectors instead of smoke detectors so if you are
cooking and burn food, please shut the kitchen doors, turn on the extractor hoods and
ventilate the kitchen using the windows. Then allow the smoke to dissipate without letting it
into the hallways (where there are smoke detectors) and you should prevent the fire alarm
from sounding.
Food Storage
Within the kitchen every resident has their own fridge and freezer compartments and
lockable cupboard. In addition to personal compartments, each kitchen has a communal
fridge and freezer which is for the storage of larger items. Please note that there are no
lockable compartments in any fridges or freezers. The cleaners will not clean any of these
spaces so it is your responsibility to keep them clean.
Under no circumstances may you "borrow" food or use the dishes of another
student without their prior approval. This will be considered a serious disciplinary
matter that may result in community service, fines, or other punishment. If you notice
anything missing or see anything suspicious, please report it to a member of the
wardening team immediately.
Dirty Dishes
Every day, any dirty cutlery, crockery and utensils left in the kitchen will be placed into
designated grey bins by the cleaners. These bins need to be periodically emptied to avoid
accumulation of unclean items. Such waste would normally need to go into inorganic
waste. In order to reduce the environmental impact of these items, we have implemented a
system whereby people that repeatedly fail to remember to take their swipe-cards when
leaving their rooms will receive community service in the form of dishwashing (see section
on Lockouts). This aids the entire hall community by reducing our environmental impact
and the production of inorganic waste, and helps keep our kitchens clean. The bins will
also be fully emptied once per week on Friday to avoid an accumulation of unclean items.
All dirty kitchen items remaining at that point will be placed outside the kitchen on the
lower ground floor where they can be reclaimed. Any items unclaimed by Monday will be
removed for disposal so keep track of your possessions!
Recycling
Another way to minimise our environmental impact is by promoting recycling. Within each
kitchen there are three types of bins for recycling in addition to bins for general food waste:
11
The Handbook
Green Bins: Drinks cans, food tins and plastic bottles, no other forms of plastic, please
wash first.
Blue Bins: Paper and card, no waxed plastic such as tetrapak juice cartons, please
squash them first.
Red Bins: Glass bottles and jars, washed and with lids removed.
The Laundry
The laundry is situated in the basement and contains three washing machines, three
tumble dryers and ironing facilities. A single load costs £2 to wash and £1 to dry. Items are
left at your own risk. You have a washing basket in your room and it is your responsibility
to look after this basket. Any laundry baskets damaged or misplaced will be charged for.
Please do not overload the machines. They are not designed to wash blankets, sleeping
bags or training shoes. If all the machines are full, common courtesy is to place the clothes
you take out of the machine into any laundry basket that may have been left on top of the
machine, or on top of the machine itself. Please do not distribute other people’s clothes
onto the floor. Do not hang clothes to dry out of your windows.
Princes Gardens
Selkirk Hall is in the south-east corner of Princes Gardens. The garden is operated by
Imperial College but is open to the public. Southside, Eastside and Garden and Weeks
halls use the garden for BBQs and other hall events. Students are encouraged to make
use of the garden (especially when the weather is agreeable!) but after 23:00, you are
strongly encouraged to move indoors. No ball games or BBQ’ing is allowed – except
BBQs run by the Hall Wardening Team. Even if you’re speaking at a normal volume, your
conversations travel into the open windows of everyone on that side of the buildings. Not
only does it keep people up at night but your private conversations suddenly become very
public!
Rear Garden
There is a small garden and path behind the hall, accessible from the Lower Ground
kitchen. This area is set aside for quiet contemplation and work. You may not access the
hall via the rear garden, nor may you play any sort of ball games in this area. This
requirement comes about from the local neighbours and is something which we have no
control over.
Telephone and Internet
Every room is equipped with a telephone and is able to receive external calls and make
calls to other Imperial numbers free of charge. The room extension is a five digit number
(2xxxx). To call these numbers from outside of Imperial, add +44 (0)20 785 followed by the
extension. If you have any connection problems you can contact the IT services help desk
during normal office hours by calling 49000 from any internal phone. To set up your
voicemail dial 41000 from the phone in your room. When it prompts you for a security code
enter 6 zeroes and follow the directions.
Mail
Your post will be delivered to the letterboxes in the foyer. Any packages or letters requiring
a signature will be delivered to the security lodge in Weeks Hall. Security officers will leave
a note for you in your mailbox alerting you of the presence of that letter or package. You
can then go the security lodge at any time to sign for and collect your mail; the notification
and/or your swipe-card may be requested in order to claim a package. Your address is:

The Handbook

Common Rooms
Selkirk is served by two main common areas in addition to the kitchens. On the Lower
Ground floor of the hall we have our own Common Room with couches, HDTV facilities,
Playstation 3 etc. This room is for the use of everyone in Selkirk and common courtesy
applies here. You must keep noise down after 23:00 and the room will be locked shortly
thereafter. Extensions for people watching films are acceptable upon approval of the duty
warden, however please have consideration for the residents who live adjacent to the
common room.
There is also a larger social space shared between all Southside and Eastside halls called
the Wolfson Lounge which is accessible by swipe-card. This features ample seating, a
projection-TV, table-tennis tables, table football, a pool table and vending machines. It is
often used as a venue for hall events. Please note: the Wolfson Lounge is locked every
night at 11pm.
Bike Store
Southside Hall has a bike store located in the Selkirk Hall basement. It is accessed via the
rear gate and two swipe-card access doors. If you require access to the bike store you
need to present your swipe-card at the Hall Supervisors office for activation, as well as
registering the make, model and description of your bike. While the store is very secure we
cannot ensure total security, and recommend that you keep bikes locked to the racks in
there. The rear gate is only to be used for bike store access, and may not be used to
enter the rear of the hall.
13
The Handbook
Safety and Security
Emergencies
The emergency contact number for the South Kensington campus is x4444 from any
internal phone (or 020 7589 1000). You can also contact the Hall Supervisors or the duty
warden depending on the time of day. To reach Security for a non-emergency, dial
x58900.
Security
Thefts are a perennial problem in all student halls, but they can be prevented, and there
are many systems in place within Selkirk to minimise the risk of thefts and other crimes
occurring. Never leave your room unlocked (note that the College insurance on your room
only covers theft if there are signs of forced entry, pushing the door open does not count!).
Before long you will find that you know most if not all of the residents (at least by sight) so
if you see someone coming into Selkirk who you are not certain is a resident ask them to
report to security. Do not let anyone into Selkirk except your own guests and don’t
forget that you are responsible for the actions of your guests. If a stranger claims to be
visiting a friend, then tell them to wait outside until their friend comes to let them in. Be
particularly vigilant for people trying to tailgate into the hall behind you. If you have
any concerns about someone who has entered the building, call College security or the
duty warden.
Fire Safety
Fire safety is of great importance and it is very easy to set off the highly sensitive smoke
detectors in the rooms. Please be extra careful when cooking in the kitchens and using
other electrical appliances in your room. We strongly advise you not to cook after 23:00.
Anyone causing the fire alarm to be activated after this time, through neglect, may be
fined. It is essential that all fire extinguishers are in full working order and there are severe
penalties for the theft or misuse of, as well as tampering with fire equipment. Some of the
nearby halls have had fires before but luckily they were extinguished before they spread
too far. If you notice a fire extinguisher/blanket is missing from your landing or one is used
or removed for any reason, you must inform a member of the wardening team as soon as
possible.
Additional fire safety points
• Check the cooker is off after use.
• Make sure you know how to use the microwave (this is no joke!). There are instructions
beside each one so please read them!
• Deep fat fryers are forbidden.
• Do not leave litter on the floor.
• Do not fit pull-up bars across your bedroom doorway.
Fire Alarms
When the fire alarm sounds you must vacate the building by the central staircase, and
assemble in Princes Gardens, away from the front door of Selkirk to allow fire marshals
access to the building. Students who do not vacate during a fire alarm will be fined. If
the central staircase in Selkirk is blocked by smoke or fire you must move along to the
staircases in Tizard or Falmouth-Keogh and use those for evacuation. Emergency call
points are located by the lifts on every floor, these will allow you to contact firefighters in
the event of being trapped.
14
The Handbook
Fire alarm testing takes place every Wednesday morning between 09:00-10:00. You
do not need to vacate during testing which is marked by short bursts of the alarm
instead of prolonged sounding. Pay close attention to the alarm at this time because
coincidences do occur. If the alarm continues to sound, you must evacuate.
There are two types of fire sensor in the hall. Rooms and hallways are fitted with (very
sensitive) smoke detectors, while the kitchens are fitted with heat sensors. Please take
care not to activate fire alarms by accident. The vast majority of alarm activations are
caused by people, rather than some fault. Using hairdryers and hair straighteners directly
under alarms can trigger the detector. Likewise, excessive steam from showers, and spray
from aerosol deodorant or hairspray can also trigger the smoke sensors. Any other items
with a heating element, such as fan heaters, can produce smoke if they have not been
used in a while, so please test them before using. Please take care and use common
sense around the sensors.
Smoking
Smoking is strictly forbidden in halls (and all College buildings). Any student who
smokes in their room will face a penalty and possible expulsion from the hall.
Smoking under the overhang outside of halls is also forbidden. College policy states that
you must be at least 5 m from the building so there are smoker’s outposts in Princes
Gardens where smoking is permitted.
Noise
Selkirk Hall has a strict noise policy. The hall is designated as quiet between 11pm and
8am. Therefore, we expect there to be no audible music from rooms/kitchens etc.
Conversations are kept at a respectful level, and no shouting to friends, phone calls in
corridors etc. We are particularly strict on this as your fellow residents will be following
different timetables. So whilst you may not have an exam, assignment or test the next day,
your floormate may have. You will come to appreciate this rule when you have to revise for
exams!!
Selkirk Hall Quiet Hours – 11pm – 8am
15
The Handbook
Visitors and Welfare
Guests
You are allowed to have friends round to stay but it is imperative that you let the hall know
if anyone is staying overnight with you as the fire regulations stipulate that we must have
an accurate list of those in hall. To do this, please fill in the "Having Guests?" form on the
Selkirk Hall website: https://halls.imperial.ac.uk/selkirk/guests/. If you are in a double room
it is imperative you have permission from your room mate for a guest to be allowed to stay
and they will always have the right to refuse. The actions of any guests you bring into
Selkirk are your responsibility.
Guests may be allowed to attend hall events however this is at the discretion of the
wardening team pending sufficient capacity. Guests will be charged the full cost of the
event as opposed to the cost subsidised by the hall.
Temporary Absence
As mentioned above, for security reasons and fire regulations all residents who intend to
be away from hall overnight need to fill in the form "Going Somewhere?" on the Selkirk
Hall website: https://hallsf.imperial.ac.uk/selkirk/absences/
Finance
If you have any financial difficulties in paying your hall bill/fees, then you can talk to the
finance people in the Student Hub, located on Level 3 of the Sherfield Building, who
should be able to help you. The wardening team are happy to chat to you and offer advice
if you are feeling anxious for this.
Charitable Work
The Hall Committee nominates a charity to raise money for in collaboration with the
Imperial RAG and organise a range of charity events.
The Health and Dental Centres
College policy states that students in halls must register with a G.P. close to the College.
Although we never believe we will fall ill, emergencies do occur and we would strongly
advise registering with the Imperial College Health Centre when you arrive (you will be
able to register with your home G.P. during the holidays as a temporary resident). The
College Health Centre is conveniently located on the Ground floor of Selkirk, and provides
a service with call-out doctors known to the wardens. The Health Centre is closed on
Tuesday afternoons. The College Dental Centre is located on the Ground floor of Tizard
(adjacent to Selkirk). In an emergency contact the duty warden or security.
Religious Worship
Selkirk Hall is a multicultural environment and we expect all residents to respect the views
of other within the hall. We are happy for all residents to practice their religious beliefs
provided they do not disturb or impinge on the rights of others. As we have many faiths
present in hall we do not allow proselytising (the touting of one religion to members of the
hall). In addition to the information below, there is a lot more available from the Chaplaincy
Centre (Beit Quad, East Wing). This includes contact details, and information on local
places of worship. Most of the religious groups are Union societies:
https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/activities/a-to-z
16
The Handbook
Ex-Selkirkians
Ex-residents are encouraged to visit the hall and come to hall events (especially our
annual reunion BBQ). It is sometimes worthwhile talking to them to get the benefit of their
vast experience of hall and College. Government Health Warning: Ex-Selkirkians are fairly
dangerous and should not be bought any drinks as they may bore you with anecdotes of
how great their year in Selkirk was etc.

Epilogue
Well, this brings us to the end of the Selkirk Hall Handbook and it just remains for us to
once again extend a warm greeting to you all and wish you all an exciting and successful
year. See you around Selkirk!

The Handbook
Selkirk Hall Rules
As a resident of Selkirk Hall you are required to abide by certain rules. These rules are
intended to maximise safety and security within Selkirk Hall, and to minimise potential
inconvenience being caused to residents and our neighbours. Many are dictated not only
by the College but also by law e.g. tampering with fire safety equipment is a criminal
offence whilst making excessive noise is in contravention of the Noise Act 1996; however,
they are largely common sense and providing you are sensible and responsible you will
have no difficulty in complying with them:

Observe all fire safety and evacuation procedures in operation within the hall;
Do not compromise the safety of yourself or others. For instance never prop open fire
doors, tamper with fire safety equipment, throw or let fall objects from the building (this
includes cigarette butts and swipe cards), enter prohibited areas of the building or climb
out of windows.
Avoid making excessive noise (e.g. playing music, shouting, loud conversations
outside the front doors, etc.), especially between 23:00 and 08:00, when no noise
should be audible outside your room or the kitchens. Excessive noise is very disruptive
and is regarded as a serious disciplinary matter that may result in Community Service,
fines, or other action.
Respect the rights and needs of your fellow residents and the neighbours.
Do not cause wilful damage to hall or College property (and do not use drawing pins or
blu-tack on the walls of your room) - all accidental damage must be immediately
reported the Hall Supervisors or one of the wardens.
Do not allow uninvited strangers to enter the hall and do not leave open any external
doors.
Guests are permitted in halls subject to the conditions that:
a) The resident is fully responsible for the behaviour of their guests,
b) All overnight guests are notified to Warden/Sub-Warden and,
c) The Warden/Sub-Warden reserve the right to refuse admission.
All Imperial College halls are designated no smoking residences.
Illegal acts in hall e.g. use or possession of prohibited drugs will lead to referral to a
College Residences Tribunal and to the Police.
Firearms and weapons (including swords, air guns and air pistols) are strictly forbidden
in the halls.
Bicycles are not permitted in hall; they should be kept in approved storage areas.
Rollerblading, ball-games, water pistols etc. are not permitted in hall.
Enforcing discipline within Halls and Houses is the responsibility of the Warden and the
Sub-Wardens. All residents are governed by Terms of your License to Occupy and the
Imperial College Disciplinary Code. Penalties such as fines can be imposed within Hall for
breaking any of the above rules and, in more serious cases a Residences Disciplinary
Tribunal can be called. Particularly serious cases can result in the loss of your place in Hall
or, in extreme cases, removal from College. College disciplinary procedures available
directly from the Imperial College website.
