Read and follow all instructions given. Your failure to do so could disqualify you from being considered for the
scholarship.
Allow yourself plenty of time to complete and gather all application materials and submit all applications by

AADA (American Academy of Dramatic Arts) Scholarships




Requirements: Students planning to pursue careers in acting are invited to apply. All applicants who
are accepted into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts will receive automatic considerations for
both Endowed and Annual scholarships. See webpage for more details.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Lambda Omega Chapter Ethnic Minority
Scholarship




Requirements: Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or above with an SAT score of 750 or higher (Math
and Critical Reading combined) with ACT conversion. Applicants must have demonstrated leadership
capabilities, evidence of financial need, and belong to an ethnic minority group. Applicants must be
residents of Mecklenburg County (except for legacy applicants; see application for details) and must be
entering college in the Fall of 2017.

AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts National and International Audition Tour for
Admission and Scholarships




Requirements: Students interested in pursuing full-time studies in Acting, Music Theatre, Dance
Theatre, or Performing Arts may wish to apply and audition. Interested students may be nominated

American Legion Baseball Scholarship




Requirements: Any team manager or head coach of an American Legion (post-affiliated) team may
nominate a player for consideration of this award. Each American Legion Department Baseball
Committee will select an American Legion player who best meets the qualifications as the American
Legion Baseball Scholarship winner.
Amount: $500-$5000

American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program: “A Constitutional Speech Contest”




Requirements: High school students in grades 9-12 below age 20 who are citizens or lawful
permanent residents of the U.S. can participate. Local winners are selected to compete at district and
national levels.
Amount: $1500-$18,000

American Legion Legacy Scholarships




Requirements: Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who are the children or adopted
children of a parent who either 1) was in the U.S. military and died in active duty on or after 9/11/2001
2) OR who is a VA-rated, post 9/11 veteran with a disability rate of 50% or higher. Students must be
pursuing or planning to pursue undergraduate study at an accredited institution of higher education in

American Legion Samsung American Legion Scholarship

Requirements: Scholarships are restricted to high school juniors who attend the current session of
either The American Legion Boys State or Auxiliary Girls State program and are a direct
descendant- i.e., child, grandchild, great-grandchild, etc.- or a legally adopted child of a wartime
veteran who served on actdive duty during at least one of the periods of war officially designated as
eligibility dates for American Legion membership. Applicants who are direct descendants of Korean
War veterans will receive special consideration. Scholarship funds are for undergraduate study only
and may be used for tuition, books, fees, room, and board. Winners are selected according to
academic record, involvement in school and community activities, community service, and financial
need.




American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens Scholarships




Requirements: Applicants must be sons or daughters of law enforcement officers who were killed in the
line of duty. They may attend a traditional four-year college, university, technical, or vocational
educational institution.

American Youth Leadership Program




Requirements: This program offers various opportunities for American high school students aged 15-17
and educators or community leaders who work with youth to travel abroad on a 3- to 4- week long
exchange to specific countries to gain first-hand knowledge of foreign cultures and to collaborate on
solving global issues. Different organizations implement this program presented through the US
Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and each has organized an academic
and experiential educational exchange, focused on dialogue and debate, leadership development, and
community service. Recruitment areas and application deadlines vary. Please check the website for

Americorps (Corporation for National & Community Service)




Requirements: Provides extensive opportunities for dedicated community service. If participants
complete designated community service successfully, they may be eligible for awards to help pay for
college expenses. Applicants must be US citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents. Age
restrictions apply. See website for details and requirements. Many different projects and areas are
available.

Army ROTC Four-Year Scholarship Program




Requirements: Applicants must be US citizens between the ages of 17-26 with a high school GPA or
at least 2.50, a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum score of 920 on the SAT (math and
verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores), meet required physical
standards (see website for details), and commit to an 8-year service commitment to the Army
(including active duty and reserve components). See website for full details.
Amount: Up to full tuition and fees, with allowance included for books and a monthly stipend of up to

Automotive Hall of Fame Scholarship




Requirements: Graduating high school seniors interested in automotive careers may apply. Minimum
GPA of 3.0 required; must be US citizen or have student visa and planning to enroll in full-time studies
in an associate, bachelor, or masters program. Must be accepted into an accredited college, university,
or trade school within the US at time of application. See website for details.

AXA Achievement Community Awards




Requirements: Applicants must be US citizens or legal residents in one of the 50 US states,
Washington, DC, or Puerto Rico. They must be current high school seniors planning to attend an
accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States for the following school year.
They must demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school,
community, or work-related activities.

Ayn Rand Novels Essay Contest




Requirements: Three different essay contests are offered; each one focused on a different literary work
by Ayn Rand. Students in grades 8-12 are eligible to participate in specific contests (see website for
details).
Amount: Varies; up to $20,000 depending on specific essay contest and level of winning entry.

Berea College Tuition Promise Scholarship




Requirements: Every student who attends Berea College in Kentucky receives a Tuition Promise
Scholarship. This scholarship is combined with any financial aid and/or other scholarships the admitted
student has received so that 100% of tuition costs are covered for all students admitted to Berea.
International students are encouraged and welcome to apply. Admission to Berea is competitive; Berea
seeks students who are academically competitive and have financial need. Interested high school
juniors and seniors should contact their high school counselor immediately if interested in applying.
Most admitted students have ACT composite of 20-30 (or SAT equivalent) and cumulative high school
GPA of at least 3.0 in a strong college prep curriculum.

BigSun Scholarship




Requirements: All high school seniors who are student athletes may apply, regardless of the sport

Bridge Scholarship
 Requirements: Graduating seniors in Mecklenburg County may apply. The winner will be the applicant
who can best present their need to the Bridge Foundation. The scholarship is designed for the student
who is driven to succeed to the best of their personal ability. There is no GPA requirement, test score
standard, or athletic baseline. The Bridge Scholarship is for the student who has a goal and a plan for
achieving it. The Bridge Foundation is an entrepreneurial group looking for the same in candidates for
this scholarship.
 Amount: $20,000 total ($2500 each semester)

Cappex “Just Because We Love You” Scholarship




Requirements: Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must register
online and create a profile with Cappex.com to be considered fort his scholarship. The scholarship
will go to the most well-rounded Cappex.com fan as defined by extracurricular, leadership, and
volunteer activities listed in their Cappex profile.

CaptainU Student-Athlete Scholarship




Requirements: Scholarship is open to all high school student-athletes (grades 9-12; plus junior
college students) who plan to attend a 4-year college/university. Applicants must create a profile on
the CaptainU website and should participate in the website’s activities (i.e., Facebook page, etc.)
Minimum age is 13; applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Catawba College West Teaching Scholarship




Requirements: High school seniors who have been admitted into Catawba College who are planning
to pursue teaching careers may apply. Minimum SAT of 1100 (or equivalent) on quantitative and
critical reading sections and GPA of 3.4 required. Contact Catawba College for additional criteria and

Charlotte QC Rams Alumni Chapter Winston-Salem State University
 Requirements: Graduating high school seniors in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Gaston counties may
apply. Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above is required. Recipients are only eligible if they are not receiving a
full or partial scholarship to WSSU which covers tuition, fees, room, and board.
 Amount: $1000

CIA Undergraduate Scholarship Program

Requirements: Applicants must be US citizens who are high school seniors or college



freshmen/sophomores. Seniors must be age 18 by April 1st of senior year. Must have SAT score of
1500 or higher (1000 math and critical reading; 500 writing) or ACT of 21 or higher. Minimum GPA of
3.0 on 4.0 scale. Must demonstrate financial need (defined as household income of less than
$70,000 for a family of four or less; $80,000 for family of five or more). If applicant has not
been listed as a dependent for the previous tax year, the gross annual household income ceiling is
$35,000 or less. They must meet all criteria for regular CIA employees, including security checks and
medical examinations. Recipients must be available to work in the Washington, DC area during
periods of employment. Applicants must commit to a work experience each summer during college
and are asked to agree to CIA employment for 1.5 times the length of their CIA- sponsored

Amount: Annual salary; a benefits package that includes health insurance, life insurance, and
retirement, and up to $18,000 per calendar year for tuition, mandatory fees, and books. Transportation
costs between school and Washington, DC area are covered each summer and a daily allowance for





Requirements: College Access Para Todos assists immigrant youth and families in obtaining access











Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation (CKSF Scholarships)

Requirements: Participants register and participate in quizzes on the website. Participants must be at

least 14 years of age; younger participants must be registered by parent/guardian. There are even
some scholarships offered that parents can win for their children. See website for rules and details.

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX)




Requirements: This program allows high school students to student abroad for a school year in
Germany. Students must be current high school students, US citizens, nationals, or permanent
residents between the ages of 15-18 years and 6 months at start of program with minimum GPA of 3.0
on 4.0 scale. Previous study of German is not required.
Amounts: Covers most costs of year abroad to study at a high school in Germany.















Requirements: Through the Davidson Trust, Davidson College will meet 100% of an admitted

 Requirements: The Sweepstakes is open to citizens of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and
the U.S. Territories who are either: 16 years of age or older and are seniors in high school who are
planning to attend an accredited, non-profit, four-year college or university in the 50 United States, the
District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories, at time of entry and prize notification; OR 16 years of age or





Requirements: DoSomething.Org offers youth the opportunity to participate in community activism

Emma H. Dunlapp Scholarship
 Requirements: Graduating seniors may apply. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above is required. Applicant
must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and above. Must show proof of acceptance at
an academic, vocational or technical school f o r post-secondary studies, demonstrate financial
need, provide evidence of volunteer activities he/she has performed, and have leadership
potential as evidenced b y school a n d /or community activities.

Empire Beauty School Scholarship




Graduating seniors planning to pursue studies in Cosmetology at Empire Beauty School may
apply.
Amount: $1000

Extend The Dream Scholarship
 Requirements: Graduating high school seniors in NC (and other specific states/regions) may apply.
2.75 cumulative GPA required. Applicant must demonstrate financial need, commitment to community
service, social justice issues and/or leadership qualities. Must be accepted and planning to attend an
accredited, non-proprietary, technical, community, or 4-year college in the fall following high school
graduation. ACT or SAT scores required.

ExxonMobile Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarship
 Requirements: Named for the first African American to walk in space, the ExxonMobile Bernard Harris
Math and Science Scholarships are available to 2017 graduating high school seniors in school districts
represented by the Council of the Great City Schools. Charlotte-Mecklenburg qualifies as such a
district. Four scholarships for two males and two females of $5000 will be awarded to two African
American and two Hispanic students.

Furman University Scholars Program
 Requirements: Current 11th grade students interested in applying to Furman University may be
considered. Cumulative weighted GPA of 3.5 or above is required, plus at least 1360 on PSAT (or
1300 on SAT, 1360 on SAT-R, or 29 on ACT or Aspire, excluding writing.) Also required is significant
involvement in extracurricular activities and community service and demonstrated leadership potential.

Gen and Kelly Tanabe Student Scholarship




Requirements: The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is a merit-based program that helps students
fulfill their dreams of a higher education. Applicants must be 9th-12th grade high school students,
legal residents of the US who are in school or plan to start school within the next 12 months.
College, graduate students, and adult students may also apply.










Requirements: Hood College is a small, co-ed liberal arts institution located in Frederick, Maryland.
Students who apply for admission are automatically considered for three levels of merit scholarships:





Requirements: Applicants to John Cabot University have the opportunity to apply for various

Johnson C. Smith University Financial Aid Options









Requirements: High school seniors residing in NC who are interested in pursuing a major/career in
criminal justice at one of the eligible UNC constituent institutions with a criminal justice degree program
may apply. First priority will be given to child of sheriff, deputy sheriff, or any law enforcement officer
killed in the line of duty; second priority given to child of retired, deceased, or active duty sheriff/law
enforcement officer; third priority to any resident criminal justice students who meet the institution’s
