Design a foldable or poster that explains the rules for adding and subtracting OR
multiplyinganddividingmixednumbers.Besuretoincludeexamplesofeach.
Measurement: draw the floor plan for your bedroom, using a scale (1 inch = 1 foot, for
example) and stating the length and width or measurements for each side. Following this,
calculate the amount of space taken up by furniture to determine the amount of free floor
space in your room.
Create a video to explain how to evaluate an expression like this: a(b–c),wherea,b,and
ceachrepresentarationalnumber(fractionordecimal).
Create a foldable booklet that teaches students how to compare and arrange rational
numbers in order from least to greatest.

Find a recipe, from website or recipe book, with at least six fractions. Write the original
recipe and then convert the recipe for twice as many servings, showing your work and
explaining your strategies. Then do the same thing but for half the amount of servings in the
35
original recipe. Finally, adjust the recipe to accommodate for 30 servings. Present your
information in a clear and organized way.

Your job will be to create a number line, from -10 to +10, which accurately labels the
following points: all integers in between -10 and 10, five positive fractions (including
25
mixed numbers), five negative fractions, five positive decimals, and five negative decimals.
You must also explain how you knew where to place each value on the number line.
Free Choice: Design and measurement! You may do anything creative here, as long as it
involves rational numbers! For example: design a piece of furniture and then include 10-30
measurementsanddetailsregardingthematerialsthatyouwouldneedtoconstructit.
