The fruit of the Holy Spirit….Patience
Dear Parents
The theme for this term is the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, this week we are thinking about Patience. This can be quite a
challenge as certain situations call for patience and it can be very difficult, that is why we need God’s Holy Spirit to help
us. I’m not convinced I’m the only Dad who transforms into Basil Fawlty when my children are messing around at bath
and bedtime! Driving is another indicator of whether we are a patient person or not…..you may be able to work out which
one I am!
We will be looking at the story of Abraham and how he displayed patience in waiting for God’s promise to come true.
Abraham was promised he would be blessed with many children even though he and his wife were elderly. Abraham had
to wait for that promise to come true –he had to be patient and trust God. Sometimes when we are praying for a situation
God calls us to be patient and to trust Him.
In an ‘instant’ culture, with 24 hour news and shops it is good to be called to be patient.
E-Safety: Important
It has come to our attention that there have been one or two incidents outside of school where children have
communicated in a way that is not in line with our Christian values and a way in which I am sure parents would not want.
It is hard as parents to keep on top of all the forms of communication, but it is part of our responsibility. I am grateful to
one of our parents who has been able to provide a number of guides for parents about use of a range of social media sites,
they are in the E-Safety section of our website and I would ask that all parents visit this and read through the information.
It would seem the key is to be aware of the sites your child is using and to have the correct filters and blocks in place. As
a parent of four children aged 9-14, I know that this is an area of challenge and concern but we have found the
information helpful and try to make sure we have parental locks in place and monitor out children’s use of social
media/websites.
The new resources are in the Parents’ Forum section of the website, in the tab E Safety.
Operation Christmas Child
Leaflets for the annual Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child boxes have been handed out. If you visit the site
http://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk you will find more information about the boxes. Your gifts in a shoe box can change
a child’s life. For some of the world’s most disadvantaged children, your shoe box could be the first Christmas present
they have ever received. The leaflets are given out now so that boxes can be obtained and many of our children enjoy
making up the boxes during half term and thinking about what to put inside them. Please can the boxes be returned to
school by Friday 18th November. Jo – please would you check for the correct date we said Thank you.

Football League Match v Upton Priory 13th October.
The long awaited start to the league season finally materialised. Upton Priory were the visitors to Bollin Grove
and everyone was expecting tough games as they always are against them.
The A team played first, comprising of a squad including: (G) Laurie Saiani, Ben Hall Fin Arnold, Lucas Hill,
Neve Massey, Jake Purdie, Will Chandler and Finn Bracey.
A tough game ensued watched by a vociferous crowd. Chances game and went for both teams, and it was
resolute defending and some heroic defending and goal keeping which kept the scores at 0-0.
The game was heading for a deserved draw for Prestbury when a corner was awarded to Upton. Hesitation and
some slack marking enabled the Upton number 16 to rise unchallenged and power a header into the back of the
net.
Next up was The B team ((G) George Ackerley, Sebastian Smith, Ben Waller, Caleb Riley, Noah Wakefield,
Aadi Whitlock, Fenton Bray (C), Finn Budd and Bruno Smith-Lomas). A superb all round performance from
the whole squad, who all played their part in another entertaining game. Goals either side of half time resulted
in a more than comfortable win. Everyone played well but superb performances in particular from Fenton Bray,
Ben Waller, Seb Smith and George Ackerley.
Well done to all who played for both teams and to the parents and family members who came to support, which
is always appreciated by the children.
Next up St Albans Home Thursday 20th October.

PTA News
Monday and Tuesday are parents evening so we will be putting out the tea, coffee and hot chocolate so parents can
help themselves. We will be running an honesty box and all cups are £1. We hope you have a positive evening.
Thank you to all the parents who have been in touch to offer help with both the Christmas Fair and the next film
show. If any other parents are willing to get involved then please do get in touch.
Thank you for all your donations on Friday, you were very generous and it's hugely appreciated.
The funds that were raised at the last film show were used to purchase the nursery staff with new school hoodies to
keep them warm over the Winer months! So thanks to you all for that. As you can all see the junior playground is
now almost complete. The PTA have contributed £10,000 towards this re-development. We know we do ask a lot
from you, but when you can actively see where the funds we raise go I hope it helps you all to dig deep. THANK
YOU.
Finally we are still on the look out for Luxury Tombola items for the Christmas Fair. If any parents have any
connections with any businesses local or further afield, please do get in touch and see if they are willing to donate
anything. We usually get a range of restaurant vouchers, beauty vouchers, football tickets or signed balls or shirts,
vouchers for attractions and the list goes on!
We hope you have a good week and please do get in touch,
Best Wishes,
Sian & Ange
