The female black widow spider is the most poisonous spider in
North America.The silk of a black widow is the strongest of all
silk. Some birds can eat black widows but can end up with an
upset stomach from her poisons.

Girl seahorses give the eggs to the boys. Seahorses change
colors to hide from predators. Seahorses’ skin is like armor.

The largest recorded number of fish in a puffin's beak at once
was 62. Because of the shape of their beaks Atlantic puffins are
sometimes called sea parrots. The oldest known puffin was 29
years old.
The Blue Footed Booby By Calliope
The word booby comes from the Spanish word bobo which
means clown. The girls choose a mate with the brightest blue
feet so that their children will also have bright blue feet. They
dive into the ocean like a torpedo to catch fish and water never
gets up their nose because their nostrils are always closed.

Peacocks are India's national bird. Peacock tails are 5 feet long
with brilliant colors and eye spots. Each peahen generally lays
from three to five eggs.

Did you know that Adelie penguins got there pouches from
kangaroos? Mommy and Daddy Adelie penguins take turns
warming the mother’s egg. Adelie penguins were named by
French explorer Dumont D'urville. He named them after his
wife whose name was Adelie.

year. They live in dry arid regions such as the Mohave.

Squids have eyes the size of a human head and each eye can
move separately. Giant squids weigh 1,980 pounds.They are 66
feet. Squids can taste something by touching it.

When snowy owls come to our area, they live by airports. The
open spaces remind them of home in the tundra. One snowy
owl eats more then 1500 lemmings each year and swallows them
whole. In the u.s.a. people think owls are wise, in other countries
people think owls mean bad luck stealing souls.

If I lose my tail it grows back. I'm black and yellow. I eat little
bugs and my belly is gray and pink .

A tarantula's bite is not harmful to people. Tarantulas can
regrow lost legs. After a large meal a tarantula may not need to
eat for a month.

Crocodiles lived before dinosaurs. Crocodiles have the biggest
brain of all reptiles. Crocodiles can live to be 100 years old.
Crocodiles have the strongest jaw of all animals.

Baby pileated wood peckers can fly when they are one month
old. Pileated wood peckers love to eat carpenter ants. There are
200 kinds of pileated wood peckers in the world.

A bullfrog can jump as high as six feet! The scientific name of
a bullfrog is rana catesbieana. Bullfrogs are usually shades of
green and brown blotches and a light colored underside.

It lays 100 to 1000 eggs. It has a nest. If an enemy sucks it in
the clown fish will be ok.

A Bald Eagle has 8 feet wing span. A Bald Eagle can see
10,000 miles away. Bald Eagles use their wings to swim back to
shore while holding fish in their talons.

I glow in the dark. I can breath under water and on land. I
lived before the age of the dinosaurs.
The Wood Frog By Sarah
A female wood frog lays up to 3000 eggs at a time. In the
winter the water in their bodies turns to ice crystals. The wood
frog is the only frog found in the north of the arctic circle.

Baby flamingos are white when they are born. Flamingos eat
upside down.
