Stem-and-Leaf Plots

A stem-and-leaf plot uses the _digits_ of data values to organize a data set.


Step 1: order the data from least to greatest
20,20,21,22,25,27,31,34,38,42,58,59
Step 2: Choose the stems and leaves.
(2 digit numbers the stem is the tens digit, and leaves are the ones digit)
Step 3: Write the stems to the left of the vertical line
(do not skip any between smallest and largest)
Step 4: Write the leaves to the right of the vertical line
(if there are no leaves, leave it blank)
Step 5: Make a key
