The Wisconsin Nurses Political Action Committee (WINPAC) was formed in 1980 with the primary purpose to
ensure a strong and effective voice for nursing through political activity. WINPAC work includes the following:
 Educate nurses and health care consumers about the political process as it relates to nursing and health
issues,
 Encourage nurses and health care consumers to organize and get involved politically,
 Raise funds for the purposes of supporting candidates financially,
 Endorse and make contributions to state legislative candidates who are “friends of nursing.”
WINPAC is directed by a Board of Trustees, is non-partisan, and is a non-dues organization. It is not required that
you be a member of WNA to be a member of WINPAC. The WINPAC Board of Trustees is responsible for
candidate endorsement. WINPAC is not allowed to accept money from its “parent” organization, namely WNA,
or corporations for political action activities. Consequently, WINPAC must earn, through fundraising and
individual contribution, all monies needed for endorsement of state legislative candidates and other political
action.
WINPAC is interested in your opinion on the legislative priorities for this next biennium. Which of the priorities do
you think WINPAC should focus on as part of the endorsement process? You may select as many items on the list
below that you believe will make a difference for professional nursing in Wisconsin.
