Any work missed and not subsequently completed will affect the grade of the student regardless of the reason for the absence. Attendance is taken each class period. It is student’s responsibility to sign in on the attendance sheet each day. Forgetting to sign in will count as absence. Coming late or leaving early for more than 10 minutes will be considered as tardy. Being tardy for three times will count as one day absence. Missing more than 6 hours of this class (two weeks) without contacting instructor in advance will result in a failing grade. If you stop attending class and do not officially withdraw from the class before April 19, you will receive the grade “F” for the course. See withdrawal policy below. Homework/quizzes/group assignments: 10% Homework problems will be assigned during each class. Homework is not graded however the next class we may have a quiz on it. Some of the quizzes may be given as group assignments. The quiz questions will be selected from that week’s homework questions. Quizzes and group assignments can be given during any class without announcement. There will be no makeup quizzes or group assignments. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped instead. Website: Step-by-step solutions to odd-numbered exercises are available at http://www.calcchat.com/. No purchase or account is necessary. http://www.larsoncalculus.com/calc10/ http://www.calcchat.com/book/Calculus-10e/ Examinations: 80% There will be three chapter tests, and a comprehensive final exam. They are worth 20% each and will be taken on the assigned dates in the classroom. The chapter tests dates and sections will be announced in the class the week before the test. The chapter test dates given below are tentative, subject to change at the discretion of the instructor. The final exam date is given by the college and cannot be changed. It is student’s responsibility to have the right kind of pencil, calculator and an eraser during each class, including the test days. The instructor will not provide it. Cell phones or other electronic devices cannot be used as a calculator. See the calculator section for more. Make-up/Late Work: There will be no make-ups, retests or early testing. The grade of any missed test or other assignment will be zero. The final exam grade will be used to replace the grade of the lowest chapter test score. Missing the final exam will result in grade “ F” in the course regardless of scores on other assignments/tests. Contact me if you have any concerns or questions. Writing assignment: 5% This assignment must be submitted before the due date: April 21. MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE WRITING ASSIGNMENT WILL BE PROVIDED later and posted on MyBlackBoard.
