cereals and chocolate. Write down the recipe being sure to include how much of each ingredient you used. Look
carefully at the ingredients during cooking, do any of them change? If they do can you explain how and why the
changes happened? Please include a picture of your finished cakes.

Georgina is going on holiday to a really cold country. Can you make a list of the things she will need to take with her?
She will need to be warm and dry at all times so that she doesn’t damage her wings. Think very carefully about the
materials the clothes are made of because she can be very grumpy if she is cold! Use the internet to research which
would be the best material for keeping her warm and the best for keeping her dry.

Go onto the BBC science website http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/9_ 10/changing_state_fs.shtml and
how a go at changing the ice and water in the experiment. Make sure to write down the temperatures! If you enjoyed
carrying out the experiment that try http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/6_7/grouping_materials.shtml and
challenge yourself by doing the quiz.
Using ICT tools to complete a
task.
Ambition
Go on to the Topmarks website and play two of the games for 5-7 year olds. You can choose any of the categories but
be sure to set yourself a challenge! Write a paragraph about the two games you played, explaining why you enjoyed
them.
Negotiating a computer website.
Ambition
Do all liquids freeze at the same time? Put milk, salt water, cooking oil and fruit juice into an ice tray and put them in the
freezer to find out. Make it a fair test by putting the same amount of liquid in each section. Record the time you started
the experiment. Check the tray after 30 minutes and record any changes. Which liquids was the first to freeze and which
was the last?
Make simple comparisons and
identify similarities.

Ambition
An orange is a solid on the outside but there’s liquid inside. Can you use this juice to make an ice lolly? Use the
following website to help you www.videojug/how - to- make -orange-ice-lollies. Can you make a lolly from the juice of a
different fruit? Investigate some different fruits to find out. Did they take the same length of time to freeze? Which one
tasted the best? Make a chart showing the time you put your lollies in the freezer, the time you took them out and how
long they took to freeze.
Scientific Investigation
Make simple comparisons and
identify similarities.
Find out where cold countries and hot countries are on a map. In cold countries we see lots of snow and ice in winter.
Hot countries don’t have snow and ice. Can you find out why? How do the people that live in cold countries have
problems that the people that live in hot counties don’t? Make a leaflet comparing how the different types of weather
affects the people who live in two very different countries.
Investigate how people who lived a long, long time ago made paint. What did they use? Make a poster showing the
materials that were used and how to mix them together. Can you make paint by using some of the things in your home
or
garden?
