Come and be part of our Field Operations Team. This is not an office based role, so we can seeking
someone who enjoys traveling in order to visit our customer properties to read and record water
usage, whether they be in a residential area, industrial estates or rural agricultural sites.

Working Hours: 37 hours (you will need to work flexibly between 6am – 8pm Monday to
Sunday)

skills and being confident and courteous while speaking to our customers. You will be provided with
weekly workloads which you must self-manage to ensure you achieve your targets
The ability to work under pressure and in an ever changing environment are important whilst
recording accurate meter readings. Our field department is divided into teams so a team player is
needed to support colleagues. The role will involve lone working therefore you need to be highly
motivated and energetic. Self-management and planning and organisation skills are key. We are
committed to the importance of Health and Safety and training and therefore expect the same
commitment from you.
A driving licence, home telephone line and broadband connection are all essential for this role.

1.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
Responsible for capturing all meter reading data in line with the Field Operations meter-reading schedule in
order to ensure the customer receives an accurate and timely bill and to avoid unwanted contacts and
complaints.
To undertake any ad hoc field visit that has been requested to either, disconnect the water supply, or to obtain
further information as required by the Company in order to resolve a customer query or dispute

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


To capture water meter reading data from water customers meters, using the hand held unit, within
set timescales as directed by the cyclical meter reading schedule
 To receive and transmit meter reading data via a handheld unit
 To identify unexpected water meter reads, such as higher or lower water consumption profile, and to
record this additional information onto the handheld device in line with the Automated Meter Reading
guidelines
 To provide a reason for any water meter that was unable to be read within the schedule, in line with
the Automated Meter Reading guidelines
 To place all water meters into a walk order route that optimises the volume of water meters read
 To carry out non-cyclical meter reading activity in line with a automated system order requests and
within the set timescales

To disconnect the water supply on commercial properties as instructed by the Commercial Collections
Department
 To undertake supply checks on water supplies that have been disconnected for non-payment of water
charges, in line with company guidelines and timeframes, and to immediately escalate any situation,
where the water supply has turned back on, to the Commercial Collections Team for further instruction
 To adopt best practice on operational performance to help support the delivery of the department’s
KPI for DG8 meter reading
 Establish and maintain effective working relationships with our operational partners across other parts
of the business to ensure objectives are supported and delivered
 To proactively undertake a dynamic risk assessment at each field visit to ensure a safe working
environment prior to undertaking each activity
 To report all near misses and hazards that could cause potential harm, in line with the Company health
and safety process and procedures
 To ensure the company vehicle is regularly checked in line with company policy and that any vehicle
defects are immediately escalated in line with transport guidelines
 To log into the Lone Working system, at all times, in Line with company guidelines

In addition to the principal accountabilities, the Field Operative is also required to carry out the following: To represent Field Operations in internal audit when required

To represent and attend Field Operations in meetings/workshops where appropriate

To liaise with the Area Manager and the BST team

To have a full clean driving license

To ensure the meter reading system is working effectively and to escalate any issues accordingly

To read any 3G remote read meter when requested
