Second 6 weeks

~ Backpacks, book-bags and purses need to go around the edge of the room when you come in each day.
Your cell phones must be silent and in your backpack, book-bag or purse.
~If you know you will miss class - email me for make- up work and to schedule make up tests or timed
essays. Refer to your syllabus to ask questions about the work you will be missing. If you are sick – email
me the morning of your absence.
~If you miss class on a day when an assignment is due – the work is still due. You can turn the work in
early, email the work to me or have someone bring it to school.
~All work must be made up prior to field trips.
September 30 Monday
Byzantine Empire lecture
Empress Theodora reading discussion during the lecture – make sure you have margin notes and SOAPS

Work with primary source documents on the crusades
We will chart out a DBQ next class – review the format from your DBQ packet
October 2 Wednesday
Chart out DBQ – you will get 2 class periods to complete your chart

October 4 Friday - pep rally camo theme
Discuss charted DBQ
Quiz over chapters 9 & 10 next class – time to go over chapter questions with a partner or group.
October 7 Monday
Ch 9 and 10 quiz
Chapter 11 – America on the Eve of Invasion. Activity using the chapter so you are familiar with the
material.
Open Book Test over chapter 11 next class. Make sure you have your textbook with you.
October 8 Tuesday
Open book Test over chapter 11 – make sure you have your textbook.
Begin work on the Chapter 12/13 study guide
Comparative Feudalism Reading Packet – make a C/C chart to fill in while you are reading.
October 9 Wednesday
Collage 1450 – 1750 will be assigned due November 7th
Continue work on the 12/13 study guide.
Notebook check on the 600 – 1450 notebook
October 10 Thursday
Lesson on Cities in Song China
We will be working with primary source documents on comparative feudalism next class so make sure
you have read your packet and have a good working knowledge of the differences and similarities
between Japanese and European Feudalism.
October 11 Friday
Look at documents on comparative feudalism to assess meaning/pov/tone
October 14 Monday Homecoming Week - Student holiday/ teacher meetings. You get the day off…I don’t.
So Unfair!!
October 15 Tuesday
DBQ skills practice – round robin using documents
October 16 Wednesday – PSAT
PSAT Day – we will be on an altered schedule
Shade in map of Khanates from your Chapter 14 handout
Net research on the Mongols - Find info on how they built their empire, the various Khans, Mongols in
China, Russia, Japan, Middle East & Europe, role of women, & the decline of the Mongols.
October 17 Thursday - Homecoming Parade
Work with documents concerning the Mongols
October 18 Friday – Homecoming Pep Rally
Work on Chapter 14 questions in groups
October 21 Monday
DBQ writing – I will provide the paper and the essay must be written in black ink. This essay will be due
at the end of class Tuesday

Complete DBQ by the end of class today

Chapter 15 activity using the textbook.

Begin work on chapter 16 questions if time.
You should look up info that gives you a working knowledge of the history misogyny and the background
on the witchcraft hysteria that occurred during the 1450 – 1750 time period.
October 25 Friday – pep rally Goblin Day theme
New notebook 1450 – 1750 and covering chapters 16 – 22
Assign topics for research: Hundred Years War, Scientific Revolution, Thirty Years War, Enlightened
Despots, Proletariat, English Civil War, Adam Smith and The Wealth of Nations, and
Mercantilism/Capitalism to be shared with a partner or group. Share this information with your group by
October 28th.
Discuss Misogyny and the witchcraft hysteria using documents.
Work on chapter 16 questions

Work on chapter 18 questions
Begin looking for research on the westernization practices of Peter the Great and Catherine the Great. We
will use the research on an upcoming activity.
