They can then be pasted in another location in the document or in another program. The Clipboard is a single location used by all of the Office 2013 programs. The Clipboard has many powerful features. When something is placed on the Clipboard, it is available to all of the Office 2013 programs. Shutting down the computer clears the Clipboard. Placing Items on the Clipboard Any time text or a graphic is copied, it is placed on the Clipboard, even if no Office program is open. Screenshots and Screen Clippings are not saved to the Clipboard. Copying to the Clipboard Copying leaves the item in the current location and places a copy of it on the Clipboard. Select the desired text and/or graphic. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click on Copy OR Press Ctrl + C, OR Right click on the text and/or graphic and choose Copy. Page 1 Technology Integration Center Davis School District, Farmington, Utah 84025 Revised 9/16/2014 Cutting to the Clipboard Cutting removes the item from the current location and places it on the Clipboard. Select the desired text and/or graphic. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click on Cut OR Press Ctrl + X, OR Right click on the text and/or graphic and choose Cut. Open Clipboard vs Closed Clipboard When the Clipboard is closed, text or graphics that are copied are available for pasting in the document. If another item is copied or cut, the previous item is not available. Only the most recently collected item is available for pastinig in the document. Opening the Clipboard makes it possible to collect up to 24 items. The amount of memory in the computer determines how much can be stored on the Clipboard. The items in the open Clipboard can be pasted into a document in any order. Opening the Clipboard On the Ribbon, click on the Home tab. In the Clipboard group, click on the Dialog Box Launcher button. Closing the Clipboard The Clipboard can be closed without loosing the items on it. In the Clipboard Pane, click on Close OR In the Clipboard Pane, click on the Task Pane Options down arrow and choose Close OR On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click on the Dialog Box Launcher button. When the Clipboard is closed, only the first item is available to be pasted in a document. Removing Items from the Clipboard Individual items can be removed from the Clipboard. The Clipboard can be cleared of all items. Removing an Item from the Clipboard Open the Clipboard. In the Clipbaord Pane, place the cursor over the item to be removed. Click on the down arrow and choose Delete. Clearing the Clipboard Open the Clipboard. In the Clipboard Pane, click on Clear All. All items on the Clipboard are removed. Open the Clipboard as noted above. Minimize the Office program. Copy or cut the desired items. Each item is collected in the Clipboard. Using the Resources Maximize the Office program. The items in the Clipboard can be used in any order from the Clipboard. Open the desired document. Open the Clipboard as noted above. Click in the document where the item is to be inserted. In the Clipboard Pane, click on the item to be inserted OR Hold the cursor over the desired item, click on the down arrow, and choose Paste. Repeat this process using the items in the Clipboard as desired. Paste All The Clipboard Pane has a Paste All button. When the Paste All button is clicked on, all of the items in the Clipboard are pasted into the document beginning with the last item and moving up the list to the first item. The order of items in the Clipboard cannot be changed. To use Paste All effectively, the items in the Clipboard must have been collected in the desired order. Resizing the Clipboard Pane The width of the Clipboard Pane can be changed to be wider or narrower. In the Clipboard Pane, click on the Task Pane Options down arrow and choose Size. The cursor changes to a two-headed arrow and moves to the edge of the Clipboard Pane. Drag to change the width of the Clipboard Pane as desired. Click chen it is the desired width. The Clipboard Pane can also be resized by placing the cursor on the edge of the Clipboard Pane and dragging to the desired size when the curor is a two-headed arrow. Moving the Clipboard Pane The Clipboard Pane can be on the left side or the right side of the document window. In the Clipboard Pane, click on the Task Pane Options down arrow and choose Move. The cursor changes to a four-headed arrow and moves to the top of the Clipboard Pane. Click and drag the Clipboard Pane to the desired side of the document window. Note: The Clipboard Pane can be placed anywhere on the screen, but it works best on the edge of the document window. The available options include: o Show Office Clipboard Automatically o Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard o Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar o Show Status Near Taskbar When Copying Show the Clipboard Automatically The Clipboard can be made to open each time a Microsoft Office 2013 program is opened. Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options. Click on Show Office Clipboard Automatically. Show Office Clipboard Automatically is selected. Click away from the Options window. The Clipboard will now open each time a Microsoft Office 2013 program is opened. Turning Off Show the Clipboard Automatically The automatic opening of the Clipboard can be turned off. Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options. Click on Show Office Clipboard Automatically. Show Office Clipboard Automatically is unselected. Click on Show Office Clipboard When Ctrl + C Pressed Twice. Show Office Clipboard When Ctrl + C Pressed Twice is unselected. Click away from the Options window. Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard Text and graphics can be collected in the Clipboard without the Clipboard being open when Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard is selected. Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options. Click on Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard. Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard is selected. Click away from the Options window. Page 4 Technology Integration Center Davis School District, Farmington, Utah 84025 Revised 9/16/2014 Using Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard With the Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard option turned on, each item that is copied or cut is added to the Clipboard. Each time an item is copied or cut, a notification pops up on the Taskbar indicating the number of items in the Clipboard and noting that it was collected. If the item copied or cut is so large that it will not fit on the Clipboard, the notification indicates that it was not collected. To stop collecting: o Right click on the Office Clipboard Icon on the Taskbar. o Click on Stop Collecting. Once Stop Collecting has been selected, the Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard option is turned off and the Clipboard returns to its previous function of only having the most recently copied or cut item available for pasting into a document. To turn on the Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard option again, follow the directions above. Turning Off Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard The Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard option can be turned off. Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options. Click on Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard. Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard is unselected. Click away from the Options window. Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar The Clipboard Icon can be displayed on the Taskbar. (It may be displayed in the list of hidden icons.) Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options. Click on Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar. Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar is selected. Click away from the Options window. Using the Office Clipboard Icon on the Taskbar Open the Clipboard. When the Clipboard Icon is displayed on the Taskbar, placing the cursor over the icon displays a note of how many items are on the Clipboard. To clear all items from the Clipboard: o Right click on the Clipboard Icon. o Click on Clear All. The Options of the Clipboard are available using the Clipboard Icon on the Taskbar. To access the Options using the Clipboard Icon: o Right click on the Clipboard Icon. o Click on Options. o Choose the desired option from the list. o Click away from the Options window. Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options. Click on Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar. Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar is unselected. Click away from the Options window. Show Staus Near Taskbar When Copying The Staus can be displayed near 5 of 24 – Clipboard the Taskbar. Item Collected The Status indicates the number of the item out of 24 and whether it was collected or not. Some items may be to large to fit in the memory available to the Clipboard. Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options. Click on Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar. Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar is selected. Click away from the Options window. Turning Off Show Staus Near Taskbar When Copying Showing the Status near the Taskbar can be turned off. Open the Clipboard. At the bottom of the Clipboard Pane, click on Options and click to place a checkmark in front of Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar. Click away from the Options window.
