Barking—Let’s Restore the Peace
Presented by Madeline Gabriel, CPDT-KA
It’s easy for barking to get the best of us, but this four hour
workshop will help restore the peace for your family (and
neighbors)!
We will address all types of barking in the home*:
Through group discussion and specific problem-solving you
will leave with a list of ideas to try right away for your own
troublesome barking situation. No single approach will solve
every problem, which is why it is frustrating to feel like you’ve
tried a million things without success .
Addresses Barking at:
❍❍ YOU (home and away)
❍❍ Sights and sounds outside
❍❍ Mail carriers and delivery people
❍❍ Visitors
❍❍ Passers-by, human and canine
❍❍ Seemingly no reason!
The aim of the workshop is to teach you how to “layer” different
approaches to get to a percentage improvement you can live
with.**
*It is beyond the scope of this class to cover situations where
dogs bark at other dogs or people while on walks.
**Shock collars and other anti-bark devices may be discussed
for understanding the risks and fallout but will not be
recommended.
Barking - Let’s Restore the Peace is based on a chapter from
Madeline’s book-in-progress, DOGS AND BABIES: LEARNING
TO LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. Of course, you do not have
to be pregnant to be annoyed by barking! This class is open to
all.
About Madeline:
Madeline Gabriel is the former Manager of Behavior and
Training at the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. She
is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer with over 15 years of
experience in family dog training, currently specializing in Dogs
and Babies -- teaching prenatal classes 20+ times per year
to dog-loving couples through local hospitals and the Birth
Education Center of San Diego.
