Luke Kingsford, David Grant, Josh Williamson and new comer Tate put in an awesome effort to finish 3rd in the Under 23 division. This is quite significant when you realise that David is the only under 23 competitor and it is his first year in this division. The remainder of the crew are still Under 19. If they had competed in the under 19 division they would have won it by a considerable margin. [4] Ella enjoys Sweet Red Strawberries from Kumeu CHAIR’S CORNER What a fabulous start to the season we've had with a fantastic turn out of members to the beach already. Firstly I would like to formally welcome Daniel Peacocke who has been employed for the summer as our club coach and is doing a fantastic job getting our members keen and enthusiastic to train and enter competitions this season. Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing and hearing about the club results as the season progresses. Also a huge thank you to Ruth Kingsford who has stepped in to help out in the office and with our club administration. This is an integral part of our club and she is doing a great job of handling our day to day tasks. Senior Club - Patrols are going strong with a good numbers each weekend. Many lifeguards have attended courses over the winter to up skill and are raring to go. Our patrol captain's this year are James Lloyd, Christiaan Maarhius, Savannah Fuller, Travis McGeady / Dave Grant and Seth Rackham. Please check when you are on duty. Remember if you are unable to attend your patrol that it is really important and your responsibility to find a replacement and let your PC know. Junior Club was all a buzz over Labour weekend for enrollments. It is so great to see a large number of familiar faces returning again this year. The Junior's are certainly an important area for the club to nourish and grow into our future lifeguards. I'm sure they will have an awesome year once again under the guidance of Jan De Faye With our club coach Dan in place this season alongside the hard work of Janine O Connor they both aim to lift Waihi's profile in the sports arenas around the district. I encourage members to step up to the challenge and give competition a go this season it is a great way to meet new people, bond with fellow clubbies, stay fit and have healthy fun. I look forward to tracking their successes. Congratulations to our successful members this month we have 6 newly qualified guards - Andrea Swanney, Gina Swanney Anna Swanney, Jade Regan Yvette Kingsford, and Grace Dalton who completed their lifeguard exams in Whangamata and Hot Water Beach over the last two weekends. Also I would like to congratulate Paul Fuller who recently passed his ambulance officer studies and is now a qualified Emergency Medical Technician with St John's. Great to hear that Lochlainn O’Connor got the season off to a flying start for Waihi with his successes at the New Zealand Pool Champs. Thanks for keeping the Waihi Flag flying proudly.
