Cluster film festival
This morning we took the School Council Learning
Committee to Cinema City to attend the Cluster Film
Festival. Each school in the cluster was invited to submit a
film for the festival, which would be seen by an audience of
children from each cluster school represented. The Learning
Committee from our School Council have been working for
some time on producing a short film on the theme of
Respect.
Here is their opening presentation speech: “Hello. In our
school we have three School Council Committees and we
are the Learning Committee. We decided to make a film all
about Respect. We wrote and directed the film and BBC
voices helped us film and edit it. From Year 1 to Year 6 we all worked together to make
this masterpiece. We hope you enjoy it”.
The film was later shown to the rest of the school during our Merit Assembly this afternoon.
Well done to all the children involved in this project.
Cluster KS1 Football Challenge
Well done to the children from KS1 who
represented the school in this Cluster
challenge event, based on football skills. The
children had to work together to complete a
range of football skill activities, trying to gain
as many points as possible for their team.
By the end of the afternoon, our school had
scored lots of points, resulting in each team
member receiving a silver medal.
Congratulations to everyone involved.
Progress Cups and Merit Certificates
Well done to Kit Howell Smith (KS2) and Sian Jones (KS1) for receiving their Progress
cups in recognition of their progress achievements this term. Well done to the following
children who received merit certificates: RW Harry Cody, 1L Lily-Grace Abel, 2T Ellie
Murison, 3M Imogen Roberts, 4RH Katie Steed, 5J Bethany Harriss and 6LO Warwick
Thomas.
Red Nose Day
An enormous thank you to everyone who helped raise money for Comic Relief last Friday.
We are delighted that we have been able to raise an amazing £1359.90 so far, now that
the majority of sponsor forms and gifts of money have all been returned and added to the
total from last Friday, which included the cake sale at the end of the day. We know that
this money will be used well to support the lives of people both in our country and in
Africa.
Teacher appointment for September
After a long day of interviews we are pleased to be able to tell you that we have appointed
Mr Oliver Joyce to the post of class teacher, replacing Miss Jarvis (who will be leaving at
the end of this academic year). It was a difficult decision to make, as we had a strong
selection of candidates who had been called for interview. We are very pleased to
welcome him to our staff team for September.
