Directions:
1. Fold a large piece of manila paper or construction paper into a booklet.
2. The front of your booklet should have your name and heading in the upper right hand corner.
3. The rest of the front cover should have the words “Adding and Subtracting Mixed Numbers
Project” on it. It can be colored, but is not required.
4. On the inside and on the left side, title it “Adding Mixed Numbers.”
5. Below the title, develop a story that involves adding two or more mixed numbers. Write the
story in the upper third of the left side of the folded paper.
6. Below your story, draw a picture which shows the fractions labeled from the story.
7. Under the picture(s), solve the problem showing all the necessary work.
8. On the inside and on the right side, title it “Subtracting Mixed Numbers.”
9. Below the title, develop a story that involves subtracting two mixed numbers. Write the story
in the upper third of the right side of the folded paper.
10. Below your story, draw a picture which shows the fractions labeled from the story.
11. Under the picture(s), solve the problem showing all the necessary work.
12. Place this paper inside of your project when you turn it in.
