Final Paper: Report
Due Date: May 3rd
Minimum Length: 1200 words (excluding works cited/references page)
Format: MLA, APA, or Chicago
The paper:
All semester you’ve been interviewing, infographing, and researching about a certain career. Now is
your chance to put that knowledge into a single, cohesive document. Your task in this paper is to write a
report on your chosen career.1
I fully expect you to use your annotated bibliography to write this paper. You may not copy and paste
annotations into your paper, but you may use that information to write your paper.
It will be helpful for you if you come up with a list of questions to answer in your paper. Below is a
sample list. You are welcome to use it, but you certainly do not have to. Not all careers would want to
answer these questions, but many would. Each question should result in at least one paragraph as an
answer.
-What is the history of this career?
-How has this career recently changed?
-How do I expect this career to change in the future?
-Where do I hope to work in this field and what am I doing to prepare for that?
-Who is someone successful in this field whom I plan to emulate?
-What has this field done to help my community, the nation, or the world?
-What are some major problems in this field?
Answering all those questions would result in something much longer than 1200 words, but you get the
idea. Remember, this essay should function as a cohesive whole, so make sure that it reads like a single
piece of writing. That means you’ll need to transition smoothly between your questions. If there is a gap
you aren’t sure how to bridge, feel free to use bolded headings to divide your sections.
1
Some of you did not choose a career, but instead focused on how to choose a career. You may write about that in
this report too.
